Manga ‘Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun’ Gets TV Anime

Published

on

An official website opened for a television anime adaptation of Naruki‘s Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun (Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent) manga on Thursday. The website revealed a celebratory illustration (pictured above) drawn by Naruki.

Naruki began serializing the romance comedy manga in Bessatsu Friend magazine in January 2021. Kodansha published the tenth volume in December 2025, with the 11th volume planned for a May 13 release. Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun has a cumulative 1 million copies in circulation.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in June 2024 and released the sixth volume on April 21.

Synopsis

In middle school, Hiro Momose was bullied and forced to be an errand girl for delinquents. Now a high school freshman, she is hoping to turn over a new leaf. Although the requirement states that each student must join a club, the clumsy Hiro is rejected by every club she has visited. Because of this, she ends up joining the “Helper’s Club,” a group on the verge of disbanding with Dan Ichikura as its sole member.

On the surface, Ichikura seems like the perfect boy—boasting good grades, athleticism, and a reliable nature. However, he harbors a secret that hits a bit too close to home for Hiro: he was once a delinquent. When she finds out, Ichikura swears her to secrecy. Now, Hiro must avoid returning to her middle school days and make this chance encounter work out for them both. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Original Anime Movie ‘The Ribbon Hero’ Announced for August 2026

@detarameMAL @HidingHere Honestly, I don’t understand why you’re directly linking this to Kaguya-hime, when it looks more like a continuation of the cult shoujo remakes after the success of Rose of Versailles last year. The original Japanese official announcement also seems to call it an adaptation rather than the original film. As well as official cite.

@Catalano If it doesn’t deviate too much from the original manga, then despite the premise, it will be much more straight than you might imagine. In fact, only one short-lived attempt at a manga remake has been more or less directly queer so far.
