Versant has sold SportsEngine to PlayMetrics for an undisclosed amount.

The deal covers the youth sports technology platform’s full suite of software and payments products including its club, league, tournament, and studio management platforms. Itreflects Versant’s broader strategy of disciplined capital allocation, shareholder value creation, and sharpening focus on its four core growth verticals: business news and personal finance; political news and opinion; golf; and sports and genre entertainment.

For PlayMetrics, the transaction will strengthen its capabilities as an operating system for clubs, leagues, tournaments and governing bodies, expand its services across the youth sports market and bring new organizations and users onto its platform.

The move comes after Versant launched a strategic review of SportsEngine in November.
