West Ham: Katrina Gorry to leave at end of season
While at West Ham, Gorry has used her platform to discuss motherhood in women’s football, eating disorders and going through IVF (in vitro fertilization).
“It’s an emotional time to be leaving West Ham, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family,” said Gorry, who has two young children.
“I’ve enjoyed so many incredible moments over the last two and a half years, and captaining this team has been the greatest honour.
“West Ham is a special club with an incredible fanbase that always shows up. The fans have seen so much growth and I’m proud to have been part of that journey.
“I’ve felt at home ever since I arrived. I came here with a two-year-old daughter and I’m leaving east London with an even bigger family.
“I leave a better person and a better player, and for that I’ll always be grateful.”
Last year Gorry featured in all West Ham’s WSL matches as they set their highest points tally.
In 2025-26 she has made 18 appearances in all competitions and helped Australia reach the Women’s Asian Cup final.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Mini during my time at West Ham, even if it has been for a short period of time,” said manager Rita Guarino, who joined in December.
“Her experience, resilience and desire to win have been a real asset to the club and have helped drive this team forward.”

NFL schedule release 2026 live updates: Latest news ahead of today’s announcement
Experts assign draft grades as soon as the first round drafts up. Fans assess free-agency acquisitions as overpays or value additions before the ink dries. The NFL schedule release is less ripe for debate, but not all team schedules are created equal and there are absolutely winners and losers from NFL schedule release day.
Each team’s 2026 home and away opponents were set as soon as the 2025 regular-season wrapped up. But there’s still plenty at stake in the schedule release (aside from the quality of the schedule release videos).
What are some of the factors that can make a schedule seem more challenging or undesirable? Here’s the quirks that can make teams’ 2026 slates more of an uphill battle:
An ideal bye week either splits the regular season in half or provides much-needed rest late in the season, when injuries pile up and the toll of a season is significant. Byes within the first six weeks offer the same quantity of time off but are less valuable, because teams have barely started their regular season at that point.
- How “Thursday Night Football” is scheduled
Players have long expressed a strong aversion to playing in “Thursday Night Football” games, but they are not going anywhere. The main reason is the quick turnaround after Sunday games, which can make recovery difficult. Keep an eye on both the TNF matchups AND how those matchups are surrounded. For example, the Cowboys traditionally have a Thursday Night Football matchup the week after their Thanksgiving matchup, which gives them a leg up on opponents who played the previous Sunday.
- Matchups against teams coming off a bye
Playing a more well-rested team can absolutely make a team’s schedule more challenging in a sport as intense and physical as football. Along with increasing a team’s ability to recuperate midseason, coaches can get a jump on preparing for an opponent and mentally reset after the first stretch of the season.
- Long stretches on the road late in the regular season
Each team plays either eight or nine away games during the regular season, but the timing of those road games and the quality of their opponents can turn an average schedule into a brutal gauntlet – and can determine a team’s playoff fate.

Carlo Ancelotti extends Brazil contract until 2030
Carlo Ancelotti has extended his contract as Brazil manager until the 2030 World Cup.
The Italian was appointed to the post in May 2025 after his departure from Real Madrid and he has since secured Brazil’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States next month.
“From the very first minute, I understood what football means to this country,” said the 66-year-old.
“For the past year, we have been working to lead the Brazilian national team back to the very top of the world stage.
“But the CBF (Brazil Football Federation) and I want more. More victories, more time, more work. We are very happy to announce that we will continue together for another four years.
“I want to thank the CBF for their trust.”
