Anime Expo Hosts Musical Artists ALI, Yōko Kanno – News

Anime Expo announced on Monday that artists ALI and Yōko Kanno will also perform at the J-POP SOUND CAPSULE @ AX 2026 music concert, completing the lineup. The concert also features girl group Roselia, rock band SPYAIR, and singer Yoko Takahashi.

J-POP SOUND CAPSULE @ AX 2026 will be held on July 2 from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. PDT at the Crypto.com Arena. Ticket sales for the concert started on May 5.

This Year’s Anime Expo will also host a “JAPAN MUSIC VOCALOID Powered by DWANGO” event on July 4 with guest performers Hachiōji-P, kz (Livetune), picco, SatapanP, and TeddyLoid. Entry is included with attendees’ Anime Expo credentials and no separate ticket is required.

The event will also host “the first official North American screening” of the The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love? anime film on July 5 at 12:00 p.m. PDT.

BIGWEST will also host a Macross panel on July 2 at 1:00 p.m. PDT.

The convention also previously revealed the following guests: 

  • Masayuki Yamagishi (Yama-P), CEO of game developer NextNinja
  • Infinite‘s Ena Hamabe, producer of the I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day anime
  • Hiroyuki Watanabe, former editor-in-chief of Monthly Shōnen Ace and current executive officer at Kadokawa who “oversees the Manga, Light Novel, and Shin-Bungei genres”
  • Voice actor Masakazu Morita (Bleach, Kingdom)
  • Voice actress Machico (Uma Musume: Pretty Derby, Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!)
  • Voice actor Daisuke Hirose (Hatsune Miku: Colorful Stage!, Good Night World)
  • Writer and artist MEME50 (Heat Alert, Drawn by Brush, XXX Maiden)

    • Anime Expo 2026 will take place from July 2-5 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

    Webtoon ‘Villains Are Destined to Die’ Gets TV Anime

    Publishing company Kakao Piccoma announced a television anime adaptation of Gyeoeul Gwon’s Villains Are Destined to Die webtoon on Sunday, revealing a visual commemorating the conclusion of the main story (pictured above).

    Gwon penned the original web novel on the KakaoPage website from March 2019 to August 2020. D&C Media published the series in four volumes, as well as the side story the following month.

    SUOL originally began drawing the webtoon on the Kakao Webtoon platform in May 2020 and ended the main story with 214 chapters on Sunday. D&C Media published the ninth volume on January 29.

    Tapas released the web novel in English between September to December in 2023. Yen Press licensed the novel in English for physical release under its Ize Press imprint in October 2024 and released the third volume on May 12. The fourth volume is planned for a September 15 release.

    Tapas began publishing the webtoon chapters digitally in English in October 2020. Yen Press licensed the webtoon under its Ize Press label in July 2022 and published the eighth volume in November 2025. The ninth volume is scheduled to go on sale on August 18.

    Synopsis

    The latest otome game is all the rage recently, so a regular university student decides to see for herself if its fame is well-deserved. She clears the normal mode in no time and finds herself pitying the villainess, Penelope Eckhart. Penelope is a fake―a replacement for the duke’s missing daughter, the protagonist of the game.

    Initially confident about clearing the hard mode as well, the woman is shocked by the sheer leap in the level of difficulty, eventually passing out from exhaustion. However, when she wakes up, she no longer recognizes her surroundings, for she has been reincarnated into the body of the villainess!

    In a world where everyone seems to be out for her blood, Penelope must make wise decisions that keep her away from the death route.
