Light Novel ‘Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku’ Gets TV Anime Adaptation in 2027

An official website opened for a television anime adaptation of Izushiro‘s Saikyou Mahoushi no Inton Keikaku (The Greatest Magicmaster’s Retirement Plan) light novel on Wednesday, revealing the main cast, staff, a teaser visual (pictured), teaser promotional video, and a celebratory illustration by Ruria Miyuki. The anime is scheduled to premiere on the CBC and TBS network nationwide under the “Agaru Anime” programming block in 2027.

Voice actor Yuuto Uemura (Vinland Saga) is starring as the lead character Alus Reigin.

Izushiro began penning the fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in April 2015. Hobby Japan began publishing the novel in February 2017, featuring illustrations by Ruria. The 20th volume went on sale in December 2025.

Yuu Uonuma began drawing a manga adaptation in Comic Fire in July 2017. Hobby Japan published the second and final volume before the manga was discontinued in January 2019.

A second manga adaptation, The Alternative, illustrated by Karu Yoneshiro, began serialization on Manga Up! in August 2020. The tenth and final volume released in November 2023. The manga has been published digitally in English by Comikey since July 2023.

J-Novel Club licensed the light novel for digital release in English in March 2019. The 19th light novel volume was released on May 21.
