Kaylee Hottle Cause Of Death Revealed

The official cause of death has been determined for Kaylee Hottle. The Godzilla star died of multiple blunt force injuries in a car crash Tuesday morning in Frederick, MD, the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed to Deadline. The manner of death is listed as accidental. An initial autopsy was completed Wednesday morning.

The Frederick County sheriff’s department said Hottle was a passenger in a Honda Accord that veered off the road at high speed early Tuesday morning, July 21, and crashed into a ditch at around 3 am. The driver, described as a 19-year-old Maryland man, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Another passenger declined medical treatment at the scene. Hottle was taken to an area trauma center where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.

Hottle’s death was announced by her father Joshua Hottle in a Facebook livestream using American Sign Language (he is deaf, as was his daughter). Hottle’s passing was confirmed on social media by Texas School for the Deaf, where she was a high school senior.

The young actor was known for her role of Jia in the films Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The character is a deaf orphan adopted by Dr. Ilene Andrews (Rebecca Hall) who develops a kinship with Kong. Hottle received praise for her performances, and was nominated for a 2025 Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for her work. The award was won by Jenna Ortega for the film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.

Hottle was discovered by Kong casting agents after she appeared in a commercial for a video relay service designed for deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech-impaired users. Hottle was fluent in American Sign Language.

Hottle also appeared on television in a 2021 episode of Magnum P.I., and according to her IMDb page, she was set to appear in the feature thriller What Doesn’t Kill Us, currently in pre-production.

Amazon Puts Luna Video Game Titles On Fire TV For Prime Members

Amazon said Thursday it is making its Luna video game offering available at no extra charge to Prime members on Fire TV in the U.S. and UK.

Last year, Luna game streams re-launched as part of a “rethink” of Amazon’s approach to gaming. “Some of the most magical moments in gaming are when you’re playing with family and friends in the living room on the big screen,” the company noted at the time.

While billions of people play games, only a few hundred million own a console or a PC equipped for gaming. Luna titles are games “you can play in seconds, as easy to find as the shows and movies you already watch, and on devices you already own,” the tech company said Thursday in a blog post.

As part of the initiative, a “Games” tab will be added to the user interface as part of the goal of making discovery easier.

“For a lot of people, games have been harder to find than they should be,” said Jeff Gattis, GM of Gaming at Amazon. “Bringing Luna inside Prime Video allows Prime members to discover games more naturally, and if they see one they like, they click it and they’re in. That’s less time searching and more time playing great games included with their Prime membership.”

On Luna, Prime members will get access to familiar titles like Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Also included are GameNight party games like Clue, Ticket to Ride, and Taboo you can jump into with friends and family. New games will be added on a monthly basis.

Layering games on top of series or films is another objective. A video game accompanying the recent Masters of the Universe film from Amazon MGM Studios is available via the outlet, for example. In other sync-up, AI party game Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger is streaming ahead of Prime Video holiday movie release The Man with the Bag.

Alan Tudyk, Andrew Rannells, Kelly Marie Tran and Rita Ora are among the high-profile names set to serve on this year’s HollyShorts Film Festival jury.

They’ll be presiding over the short films with Alfre Woodard, Katheryn Winnick, David Cross and Judy Greer at the Oscar and BAFTA-qualifying fest, which will run Aug. 13-23 at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.

The jury also features Academy Award-winning producers Guneet Monga Kapoor and Kim Magnusson, filmmakers Adam Graves, Lee Knight and James Dean, acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Ali Asgari, actresses Sibel Kekilli, Radhika Apte and Marina Sirtis, and breakout performer Megan Lawless.

Hope Davis, Rhys Darby, Alexandra Breckenridge, Alanna Ubach, Cory Michael Smith, Rachel Nichols, Natasha Leggero and Katharine Isabelle are also serving on the jury.

Leading the festival’s sports competition jury is two-time NBA All-Star Baron Davis alongside NBA agent and DNA Agency founder Colby Shinto.

Jurors will evaluate the festival’s official selections across HollyShorts’ competitions, with winners of the best short film grand prize, best live action short, best animated short and best documentary short becoming eligible for Oscar consideration.

“I am honored to participate in this year’s HollyShorts Film Fest. I have always been a fan of the short film format and the poetry it inspires,” said Alan Tudyk, while Tran offered: “As a fan of independent film in every medium, I am honored to serve on the HollyShorts Jury this year. Shorts play an important role in every filmmaker’s journey and I’m excited to recognize this art form,” added Kelly Marie Tran.

Winnick added: “An Oscar-qualifying stage built on two decades of believing in new voices, I’m honored to help decide who earns it this year.”

Founded in 2005, HollyShorts has grown into one of the leading international showcases for short-form filmmaking, presenting emerging talent alongside established creators. This year’s festival will screen 430 films from around the world while hosting filmmaker Q&As, industry panels and its annual awards ceremony.

‘American Hostage’ Series Starring Jon Hamm To World Premiere At TIFF

American Hostage, MGM+s upcoming thriller anthology series starring Jon Hamm and Giovanni Ribisi, is set to make its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival, as part of the fest’s Primetime Program.

Co-created and executive produced by Shawn Ryan (The Night Agent, S.W.A.T.) and Eileen Myers (Big Love, Mad Dogs), from Sony Pictures Television. the series is based on the first season of the scripted podcast of the same name. Set in the 1970’s, the psychological thriller tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman (Hamm), a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or- death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis (Ribisi) demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.

Kristoffer Polaha, William Jackson Harper, Mireille Enos, Jonathan Tucker, and Kat Cunning also star.

The series is executive produced by Ryan, Myers, Hamm, Connie Tavel, Marney Hochman, Sharon Hoffman, Shawn Christensen, Gabriel Mason, and Adam Arkin and Nina Lopez Corrado, who serve as series directors. American Hostage is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

American Hostage premieres exclusively on MGM+ in the U.S. and Crave in Canada this fall.

The 51st Toronto Film Festival runs from September 10 to September 20, 2026.
