The show also will feature a franchise, 50 States in 50 Days, that will be a partnership with NBC affiliates spotlighting “local solutions to national challenges.” The executive producer is Kerrie Wudyka.
In April, the network also announced the expansion of NBC News Now to 14 hours a day of live programming.

ITV Results: Studios Bosses Confident Despite America Revenue Dip
ITV Studios bosses are remaining bullish in the face of declining U.S. and international revenues as the Love Island maker prepares to be unleashed onto the market.
Of concern for ITV Studios, this morning’s ITV half-year results showed a 17% revenue decline in the U.S. and a 24% slide internationally, reflecting a reversal of previous fortunes.
On a results call with press, ITV Studios chief Julian Bellamy put this mainly down to a “softening of demand” in the free-to-air space and said it “underlines the broader importance” of the producer-distributor pushing further into making shows for streamers and developing its Zoo 55 digital arm.
“Let’s not forget, we’re on the up,” Bellamy said bullishly, as he pointed out that overall ITV Studios revenues grew 2% during the first six months of this year to £912M ($1.2B). “We feel confident about the progress we are making.”
ITV CEO Carolyn McCall added: “We need to clarify that we don’t see a softening of the market, this was one small segment of the market.”
ITV Studios has made growth with the American streamers a cornerstone of its strategy over the past few years and there will nevertheless be jitters about the decline in revenue across the pond. Helping allay those jitters are some big shows set to deliver during the latter half of 2026 including The Gentlemen Season 2 for Netflix and Apple TV’s Guilty Creatures, both made by ITV Studios indies.
When the Sky-ITV deal completes around this time next year, ITV Studios will be unleashed onto the market and will become a publicly listed company.
McCall backed ITV Studios today as having “terrific competitive advantages” with “extraordinary IP” and refused to budge on the question of whether ITV Studios will look for a buyer once it becomes independent. This came a few days after the CEO of Banijay downplayed the idea of the French behemoth swooping for ITV Studios now that it is merging with All3Media.
“We’re confident about competing because we have scale,” said McCall of ITV Studios. “We are a globally scaled diversifed business and feel we don’t have any issue with our scale. And the other thing for our shareholders is that they are hugely supportive of having a listed pure play studios business. They support that strongly.”
“A huge amount of speculation about virtually every company in America”
McCall was quick to refuse comment on rumors further up the chain that ITV’s new owner Sky will itself be sold now that it has been divested by Comcast.
“There is a huge amount of speculation about virtually every company in America so I can’t really comment,” she added.
She once again backed Sky’s commitment to ITV News once the £1.6B deal completes. She noted that the pay-TV giant has made it “extremely clear” there will be “two distinct separate editorial voices for news” along with “opportunities to supercharge and promote” ITV’s regional news coverage on Sky.
ITV delivered a set of solid if unspectacular results this morning, including strong profits for the soon-to-be-sold networks biz, mostly due to the World Cup. It also revealed an early share buyback of £100M for shareholders, which comes prior to the Sky-ITV deal completing.

Michael Jackson Boosts Sony Music Sales Amid Quiet Quarter For Studio
The box office success of Michael appears to have put some thriller into Sony’s earnings.
Sony Music Entertainment’s sales bounced 22% to 557.9 billion yen ($3.5B) in the three months to the end of June, according to the company’s Q1 earnings.
Sony Music revealed that Jackson’s “Thriller” and “Bad” were among its top 10 best-selling recorded music projects during the quarter, coinciding with the release of Lionsgate biopic Michael.
Over at Sony Pictures Entertainment, the earnings reflected a quiet quarter of theatrical releases in North America, with the unit only debuting Nate Bargatze comedy The Breadwinner.
Sony Pictures’ revenue fell 13% to $1.98B year-on-year, though the division’s operating income grew 21% to $156M over the three months to the end of June.
Theatrical sales stood at $30 million in Sony’s Q1, which was down around $100M on the same period in 2025, when the studio released 28 Years Later and Karate Kid: Legends.
Sony Pictures’ television sales also declined from $841M in 2025 to $571M this year, despite the release of the final season of The Boys on Amazon. The 32% drop was due to decreased deliveries of series during the period.

Singapore’s Wave Films Taps Dave Ulmer To Drive U.S. Expansion
EXCLUSIVE: Singapore-based production services outfit Wave Films has brought on board Dave Ulmer, former CEO of Cambodian Broadcasting Service (CBS), as an Executive Producer based in Los Angeles.
Ulmer will help the company bridge the North American content industries with Southeast Asia’s production infrastructure. He will focus on bringing U.S. and international projects into Southeast Asia, leveraging Wave Films’ production infrastructure across the region to facilitate cross-border production.
Headquartered in Singapore, Wave Films operates production and post-production capabilities across Malaysia, Philippines and Cambodia. The company is currently line producing Pierre Morel’s The Good Samaritan in Malaysia and has recently produced or line produced projects including Dark Red, filmed in India earlier this year; Chihiro Amano’s Magical Secret Tour, filmed last year in Singapore; Korean drama Kidnapping Day, and reality shows including Bachelorette and Asia Express.
Ulmer left CBS, a subsidiary of Cambodia’s The Royal Group of Companies, in June 2026. During his tenure, he oversaw national channels including CTN, MyTV and CNC, and built production infrastructure across the country.
Beyond Cambodia, he also spent years developing partnerships in Indonesia, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. He has also been building co-production frameworks that link international capital with regionally produced slates.
“Dave is not just a regional operator; he is a genuine bridge between Hollywood production companies or studios and Southeast Asian execution,” said Wave Films founder and head of production Jerry Koedding.
“He has walked the markets in Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore, he knows how to get an international production cleared and crewed in Cambodia, and he can speak to a showrunner or producer in Los Angeles in the same language. Add our cross-border production model, and the fact that we can park a project in the right country for the right tax break, locations or stage access, and you have a very compelling package for any North American producer looking east.”
Ulmer said: “North American producers are leaving money on the table if they are not looking at Southeast Asia. The region has the crews, the stages, the locations, the expertise, and the incentives. What it needs is a single point of contact in Los Angeles who can guarantee delivery. That is what I intend to be for Wave Films.
“Whether you need to shoot a feature in Malaysia, post in the Philippines, or access government-level clearances in Cambodia, we can move your project across the region without the usual friction.”
