Isaac del Toro has extended his contract at UAE Team Emirates XRG through to 2031.

The 22-year-old’s previous deal had been set to expire in 2029 but he has committed his long-term future to the team just two weeks after his third-place finish in the Tour de France.

Del Toro’s podium placement came after his first Tour stage win, aided to the line by leader and race-winner Tadej Pogacar, and secured the white jersey ahead of French prodigy Paul Seixas.

The stage 2 win on Montjuic followed a successful season for the Mexican, after victories at the UAE Tour, Tirreno-Adriatico and Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (previously the Criterium du Dauphiné).

“This team feels like home,” Del Toro said in a release on Thursday. “We share the same ambition, the same passion for racing and the same desire to keep getting better.

“Signing long-term gives me a lot of confidence because I know I’m in the right place for my future.

“We’ve already achieved some amazing victories together, but I honestly believe the best is still to come. I’m excited to keep growing with this team and fighting for the biggest races in the world.”

Del Toro has been at UAE since joining in 2024. Last season he finished second in the Giro d’Italia and won the white jersey, after ceding his lead to Simon Yates on the Colle delle Finestre.
