Lucas Digne: PSG sign Aston Villa defender in £8.5m deal

France international Lucas Digne has completed a move from Aston Villa to European champions Paris St-Germain.

The 33-year-old left back has signed a three-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

Digne, who joined Villa from Everton in 2022, spent three years with PSG at the start of his career.

He returns to the club after eight years in England, following PSG’s decision to activate a £8.5m release clause in his contract.

“I am very honoured to be returning to Paris St-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than ten years ago,” said Digne.

“I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years.”

Digne is set to provide competition for first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes.

The Frenchman joins a PSG side which have won the Champions League twice in succession, most recently after beating Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final.

Digne made 30 appearances for PSG during his first spell, before leaving for Barcelona in 2016.

The left-back was part of a Villa side which won the Europa League last season – the club’s first piece of silverware since 1996.

He is the third senior departure from Villa Park this season, following the exits of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United.
