‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Box Office: $700M Sets Domestic Record
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is continuing its epic run at the box office as its third weekend approaches.
The Sony Pictures feature has become the fastest title to swing past the $700 million mark at the domestic box office as its sum reached $704.5 million on Wednesday. It now ranks at No. 7 on the all-time North American chart after hitting theaters July 31.
Internationally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has added $1.108 billion to leap past Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.106 billion) as Sony’s biggest film ever overseas. Starring Tom Holland as Marvel’s signature hero, Brand New Day now stands at No. 10 on the list of highest-grossing features internationally.
No Way Home was the previous live-action Spider-Man release that opened in December 2021 and has collected $1.9 billion globally, a figure that should soon be within reach for Brand New Day. The returns for No Way Home had seemed tough to match, given that it had the benefit of the buzz surrounding the return of past Peter Parkers in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, not to mention that the release faced no real competition and marked the first post-COVID theatrical visit for many moviegoers who were starved for entertainment experiences.
Zendaya, Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal also star in filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton‘s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Its record-breaking run has included surpassing 2019’s Avengers: Endgame for the biggest domestic opening weekend ever with $360 million. It went on to earn the highest-grossing first week in domestic box office history and become the second-fastest film (after Endgame) to reach $1 billion globally.
The success of Brand New Day, in addition to fellow recent hits The Odyssey and Toy Story 5, helped the 2026 summer box office surpass the $4 billion mark this week. This represents just the second time that the prime moviegoing season has achieved this level since the COVID pandemic, with the first being the summer of 2023 and its Barbenheimer hysteria.
The newcomers at the box office this weekend will include Warner Bros.’ The End of Oak Street, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor, and Paramount Animation’s PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie.
More to come.
