‘Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II’ Unveils Additional Cast Pair, Fourth Promo

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Shigeru Sagazaki‘s Katainaka no Ossan Kensei ni Naru (From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman) light novel unveiled an additional pair of cast and a fourth promotional video for the second season on Friday. The anime series premiered on July 8 at 11.45 p.m. on TV Asahi, followed by AT-X and BS Asahi.

Voice actors Kensho Ono (Jigokuraku) and Sumire Uesaka (Shunkashuutou Daikousha) are joining the cast as Warren Flumvelk and Shueste Flumvelk, respectively.

Akio Kazumi (Hitoribocchi no Isekai Kouryaku) is directing the anime at Passione and Hayabusa Film. Kunihiko Okada (Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai) is handling the series composition. Satsuki Hayasaka (Yatogame-chan Kansatsu Nikki) is designing the characters and serving as the chief animation director. Yasuharu Takanashi (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu) is composing the music.

Produced by Passione and Hayabusa Film, the first season aired for 12 episodes in Spring 2025. Amazon Prime Video is streaming the anime series worldwide.

Sagazaki began writing the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in November 2020. Square Enix began publishing the light novel under its SQEX Novel imprint in April 2021, with illustrations by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima (Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou). The 11th volume was released on August 6.

A manga adaptation by Kazuki Satou began in Young Champion magazine in August 2021. Akita Shoten published the ninth volume on June 26.

J-Novel Club licensed the light novel in English in October 2023. The tenth light novel volume went on sale on August 10. Yen Press licensed the manga in March 2024. The fifth manga volume was released on April 28, with the sixth volume scheduled to be released on September 22.
