Police arrested Miami running back Jordan Lyle on Thursday on a felony complaint of aggravated fleeing or eluding law enforcement, according to Broward County (Fla.) court records.
Lyle, 20, also faces a misdemeanor complaint of reckless driving.
“As due legal process runs its course, we will have no further comment at this time,” Miami said in a statement.
An incident report was not immediately available. The listed statute concerns someone driving at high speed or “in any manner which demonstrates a wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property” while “willfully” attempting to elude police.
Lyle, a 6-foot, 205-pound junior, was the Hurricanes’ No. 3 rusher in 2024 and started two games last year. Over 18 games, he has rushed for 508 yards and five touchdowns.
Lyle was a top-150 national recruit in the Class of 2024. He’s expected to back up standout senior Mark Fletcher this season for a team looking to contend for another College Football Playoff appearance.
Lyle drew praise from coach Mario Cristobal earlier this week during preseason camp.
“I see the Jordan Lyle we saw a year ago in many respects, but with better physical traits,” Cristobal said.
