‘Tangled’ Live-Action Movie Sets 2028 Release, Unveils First Look at D23

The live-action adaptation of Disney animated classic Tangled will be opening in theaters on March 31, 2028.

A very small piece of footage, literally a shot of Rapunzel’s long blonde hair sprawled down long medieval stairs was shown. The camera lifts to show the face of actress Teagan Croft. We then see Kathryn Hahn stepping out from behind a door in a tunneled alley as Mother Gothel, exclaiming “Rapunzel!” The entire Honda Center at D23 screamed — a clear sign that fans’ requests were met. Many on social wanted Hahn to play the villain.

Michael Gracey directed the pic that also stars Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.

The original Tangled movie followed the magically long-haired Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), who has spent her entire life in a tower. But when a runaway thief (Zachari Levi) stumbles upon her, she sets out to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is. The cast also included Donna Murphy, Ron Perlman, Brad Garrett and Jeffrey Tambor.

It grossed $607.6 million at the global box office, including $200.8 million in North America.
