‘Tensei shitara Ken deshita II’ Reveals Additional Cast Pair, Theme Songs, Second Promo

The official website of the television anime adaptation of Yuu Tanaka‘s Tensei shitara Ken deshita (Reincarnated as a Sword) light novel revealed an additional pair of cast, a key visual (pictured), theme songs, and the second promotional video for its second season on Sunday. The anime will premiere on October 8 at 12.00 a.m. on Tokyo MX, followed by ABC TV, BS Asahi, and AT-X.

Voice actors Shiori Izawa (Saikyou no Ousama, Nidome no Jinsei wa Nani wo Suru?) and Show Hayami (Jidou Hanbaiki ni Umarekawatta Ore wa Meikyuu wo Samayou) are joining the cast as Nanashi and Lich, respectively.

Musical band FZMZ (Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Idoman to su) is performing the opening theme “DREAM OF BUTTERFLY,” while HANABIE (Araiguma Calcal-dan) is performing the ending theme “Baribari Buddy.” The theme songs are previewed in the promotional video below.

Shinji Ishihira (Fairy Tail) returns to helm the second season at C2C. Takahiro Nagano (Zoku Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru) is handling the series composition and script. Atsuko Saitou (Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu animation director) is designing the characters and Yasuharu Takanashi (Log Horizon) is composing the music.

The first anime season, produced by C2C, aired in 12 episodes in Fall 2022.

Tanaka began writing the action fantasy novel, abbreviated as TenKen, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2015. Micro Magazine began publishing the title under its GC Novels imprint in July 2016, featuring illustrations by LLO (Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai). The 20th volume was released in October 2025, with the 21st volume scheduled to be released on September 30.

Tomoo Maruyama began a manga adaptation on the Denshi Birz (later Comic Boost) website in December 2016. Gentosha published the 19th volume on March 24.

Hinako Inoue began serializing a spin-off manga, subtitled Another Wish, in Comic Ride in June 2020. Micro Magazine shipped the sixth volume in March 2023.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the light novel, manga, and spin-off manga in English in January 2019, May 2019, and May 2021, respectively. The 19th volume of the light novel went on sale on August 4, with the 20th volume scheduled for release in January 2027. The 17th volume of the manga adaptation was released on June 9, and the 18th volume scheduled for release on November 3. The sixth volume of the spin-off manga was released in June 2023.
