Leeds United centre-back Joe Rodon has signed a new four-year contract with the club.

The 28-year-old’s previous deal was set to expire in 2028.

Rodon has established himself as a regular in Leeds’ backline since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023, initially on loan. He has made 136 appearances for the side across three seasons, scoring three goals.

“I think I have said it since day one, since I have come into this club, everyone in the club has been absolutely brilliant with me and I have loved it, Rodon told LUTV. “So, to extend my time here and hopefully spend many more years here, just looking forward to a successful future.

“For me, I think the direction we have come in and kind of the journey I have been on since I have been here, the ambition and the project that is happening here, it was a no-brainer. So, for the club to believe in me and give me this opportunity, I am so grateful. I am just delighted and can’t wait to get going. It is the happiest I have been in my career. Everything just feels the norm to me now. It is like my second home now, Leeds. The connection I have with the fans and everyone at the club is second to none.”

Rodon came through the academy of his hometown team Swansea City before joining Tottenham in 2020. He struggled to make an impact in north London, only making 24 appearances for the club and spending the 2022-23 season on loan at French club Rennes.

The Wales international joined Leeds on loan in 2023, featuring 50 times. He joined permanently on a four-year contract the following summer, with Archie Gray heading in the opposite direction, and started all 46 Championship games in 2024-25, helping the side to the league title and promotion.

Last campaign, he made 35 Premier League appearances as Leeds avoided relegation by eight points and finished 14th in the table.

Rodon’s new deal is latest of Leeds’ summer moves that have seen James Trafford, Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and Nico Elvedi all arrive at Elland Road, while captain Ethan Ampadu signed a new deal until 2030 earlier this summer.
