Ari Aster’s Square Peg Names A24’s Kate Fassl Head of Comms & Talent
EXCLUSIVE: A24 vet Kate Fassl is heading to Ari Aster‘s Square Peg as its new Head of Communications and Talent Relations.
In her new role, Fassl will lead comms for the Aster and Lars Knudsen founded and led Square Peg, overseeing strategy, press, and brand while working closely with filmmakers and talent.
Fassl joins Square Peg after 12 years at A24, where she led award winning campaigns including Everything Everywhere All At Once, Baby Girl, as well as Square Peg titles Eddington and The Drama.
The hire comes after an incredibly successful year for the production company with the 4x Oscar-nominated Bugonia and $132M-plus global grossing box office hit The Drama, starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson.
“We had the opportunity to work with Kate across all of our films during her time at A24, and we found her commitment to the campaigns and filmmakers to be unparalleled. Kate embodies the ‘filmmaker first’ mindset that defines Square Peg,” said Knudsen and Aster. “As we continue to grow our slate and company, we can think of no better person to come along with us. We look forward to the artists we work with getting to experience the kind of care we did first hand.”
Square Peg continues to grow its film slate with various projects including Lance Oppenheim’s upcoming Venice Film Festival premiere Primetime, Ari Aster’s Scapegoat and Arkasha Stevenson’s upcoming horror film, among others.
Square Peg recently signed a first look TV deal with MediaRes and has additional TV projects set up with Netflix, Amazon and Searchlight.
The company will also host its second annual Square Peg Social this coming September in Austin. The social is a five-day, intimate gathering designed to break down the walls and barriers that too often exist within the film industry. The event is being billed as one for those who stand out, push boundaries, and feel passionate about shaping the future of cinema.
Primetime, about To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen in 2006, opens in theaters on Sept. 25.
