Taking your labor and lockout questions for our upcoming MLB mailbag

Does great fear bubble up inside you when you think about the potential for a lockout in Major League Baseball?

If you’re losing sleep over the potential of canceled games in 2027, you should probably speak to your primary care physician. But if your symptoms are milder, and perhaps best described as feelings of puzzlement, curiosity or confusion regarding complex labor negotiations, we’ve got your prescription.

So tell us what you’d like to understand better. Maybe you’re interested in learning more about what’s being proposed, and have questions about the star of the dispute, MLB’s desire for a salary cap. Or perhaps you’re a wonk who wants details of some other subject of bargaining.

Maybe you’re trying to think back five years ago to remember just how a lockout works, and want to know why we keep calling it a “lockout” instead of a “strike.” (They are technically different, yes!)

Or — fingers crossed here — you’re a trained labor lawyer and/or economist with access to MLB’s books who can put together a core economics proposal that will quickly make both sides happy. Please, by all means, share this wisdom with us and our readers.
