Chelsea have reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign defender Honest Ahanor.
The two clubs have struck a deal for a fee of £40million (€46m) with personal terms in place on a long-term contract.
The 18-year-old has been given permission to travel for a medical and complete a move to Stamford Bridge.
Ahanor came through Genoa’s academy and made six appearances for the Italian side’s first team before joining Atalanta in the summer of 2025.
In his first season at Atalanta, he quickly established himself as an important member of the first team despite still being a teenager.
He made 35 appearances in all competitions, nine of those coming in the Champions League. Ahanor started 15 of Atalanta’s 36 Serie A games as the side finished seventh.
Ahanor made his debut for the Italy national team this summer, coming on as a late substitute in a friendly against Luxembourg in June. He also started the 1-0 friendly victory over Greece that same month, where he was deployed at right-back.
Should the move be completed, he will become the second Atalanta player to join Chelsea from Atalanta this summer following Marco Palestra making the same switch in July.
In addition to Palestra, Chelsea have also strengthened their defensive ranks with the signings of Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace and Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano this summer.
