We have the first official trailer for Elsinore, starring Andrew Scott.

Simon Stone (The Dig) directs Elsinore, based on the life of Ian Charleson, written by Stephen Beresford (Pride). The official synopsis reads: Elsinore is a powerful, deeply moving, and inspiring true story of the actor Ian Charleson, who faced incredible odds while preparing to give the performance of his life in Hamlet at the National Theatre in London.

Scott stars as Charleson. He leads the film alongside Olivia Colman. Scott is also a producer on the film. The wider cast features Billie Piper, Johnny Flynn, Luke Thompson, David Dawson, Monica Dolan, Matthew Beard, Joe Locke, Georgie Glen, Sadie Soverall, Adeel Akhtar, Dickie Beau, with Juliet Stevenson and Peter Mullan.

Andrea Occhipintio of Lucky Red (Il Divo) produced the film with Gabrielle Tana of Magnolia Mae Films (The Dig), along with Pete Shilaimon and Mickey Liddell of LD Entertainment (Jackie), and Stefano Massenzi and Carolyn Marks Blackwood.

This film has received enthusiastic reviews following debut screenings at the fall festivals. Deadline’s Pete Hammond described Scott’s performance as “heartbreakingly great” and a “performance for the ages.”

Elsinore will next screen at the London Film Festival. StudioCanal will release the film in UK cinemas on January 29, 2027. Focus has the U.S. rights and will open the film on November 20.

“The movie is also a love letter to Britain’s National Theatre, a sprawling monument to the power of art and artists, an “Elsinore” unto itself,” Hammond wrote.

EXCLUSIVE: James Jordan, who stars alongside Billy Bob Thornton on Paramount+’s Landman, has been tapped for a role in They Follow, David Robert Mitchell’s long-anticipated Neon sequel to his critically acclaimed 2015 horror film It Follows, sources tell Deadline.

Reps for Neon declined to comment. Character details are being kept under wraps, as is the plot of the sequel. All that’s known thus far is that it takes place a decade after the events of the original film.

Maika Monroe has returned to star alongside newcomer Naomi Ackie. The cast also includes Jackie Earle Haley, Justine Lupe, Anna Mirodin, Jayne Taini, Michael Gandolfini, Tom Pecinka, Melora Walters, Ben Krieger, Natalie Shinnick and Jan Hoag.

Mitchell has once again directed from his own script. He’s also producing alongside Harvest Hill Entertainment’s Jake Weiner, Chris Bender of Good Fear Content, Northern Light Media Ventures’ Erik Rommesmo, FirstGen Content’s Mike D’Alto and Randal Sandler, Curious Gremlin’s Scott Aharoni and Sinan Eczacıbaşı, Kaplan Morrison’s David Kaplan, Rebecca Green and Laura Smith. Mark Bennett handled casting.

Neon reps worldwide rights to They Follow and will release the film in U.S. theaters. Neon International is handling foreign sales. Deals were negotiated on behalf of the filmmakers by Hayden Goldblatt of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz, Eugene Pikulin of Bruns Brennan Berry Pikulin Jacobs, Michael Weiss of Concentric Law, and Wifreddy Chiang of Baseline Media.

It Follows was snapped up by Radius-TWC after premiering to rave reviews at Cannes in 2014. The psychological horror film stars Monroe as Jay Height, a college student who, after a sexual encounter, becomes the target of an unstoppable supernatural entity. As the entity takes the form of random people, slowly but relentlessly stalking her and her friends through the Detroit area, she grapples with the fact that she will only be able to escape the curse she has inherited by passing it on to someone else through sex.

Regarded as one of the best horror films of the 2010s, It Follows grossed around $23M against a reported budget of a little more than a million, launching Monroe toward stardom and making a studio director of Mitchell. Pic’s cast also included Keir Gilchrist, Daniel Zovatto, Jake Weary, Olivia Luccardi and Lili Sepe.

Best known for his turn as petroleum engineer Dale Bradley, right-hand man to Thornton’s Tommy Norris, on Paramount+’s hit drama Landman heading into its third season, Jordan is a clear favorite of co-creator Taylor Sheridan, who’s cast him in everything from Yellowstone and 1883 to Mayor of Kingstown, Those Who Wish Me Dead and Wind River. Currently, Jordan also stars in his series Lioness. Upcoming, he’ll be seen in Billings, an indie healthcare drama marking the directorial debut of actor Alexander Ludwig. He is repped by Elevate Entertainment and Jamie Freed Management.
