Tsukasa Sakurai (Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For!; Ryūsatsu no Kyōkotsu director) is the chief director of the anime at Raging Bull, and Shingo Uchida (episode director for Attack on Titan TV 3/2018, Vinland Saga, After the Rain) is directing the series. Naoki Tozuka (I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince both seasons; Because I, the True Saint, was Banished, that Country is Done For!) is overseeing the series scripts, and Hiromi Katō (Kobato., Goblin Slayer II, A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special both seasons) and others are designing the characters.

Kadokawa announced the anime at Anime Expo in early July 2023, and Dengeki Bunko announced the main cast members later that month. No new information about the anime had been revealed since then, until today.

The anime stars:

J-Novel Club is releasing the light novels and manga adaptation in English, and it describes the story:

The pinnacle of human civilization has come and gone,
leaving only ruins in its wake. Society and science now
struggle to rebuild, rediscovering scraps of knowledge from
powerful ancient artifacts that defy comprehension. These
relics of the “Old World” can make the fortunes of those who
find them—if ancient security systems and rogue bioweapons
don’t kill the relic hunters first.

Akira, a young street orphan, sets out to become one such
hunter to escape his brutal life in the slums. Untrained,
malnourished, and poorly armed, Akira would be lucky to
make it back from the ruins alive—until an encounter with Alpha, a mysterious,
ghostly woman, changes his fate forever. Alpha needs a hunter, and she’s willing to
train Akira to get one.

Will her support be enough to help a penniless kid from the slums climb to the top
of a crushing and merciless world?

Kadokawa publishes the novels by Nahuse with illustrations by Gin (illustrator), yish (environmental artist), and cell (mechanical designer). Nahuse began publishing the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō and Kakuyomu websites in February 2017 and the most recent chapter on the sites was in August 2021. Kadokawa began publishing the series in print in 2019, and will publish the final part of the ninth volume on November 17.

Kirihito Ayamura draws the manga, which launched in July 2019. Kadokawa published the 16th compiled volume on July 27.

The novels ranked at #5 on the tankōbon rankings for the 2020 edition of Takarajimasha‘s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! (This Light Novel Is Amazing!) guidebook.

The “Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026″ announced on Saturday that Kien Aien’s Kochira, Shūmatsu Teitai Iinkai. (This Is the End Stagnation Committee.) light novel series has an anime in the works.

The story imagines if our world is actually in the middle of an apocalypse, unbeknownst to most people. Weird creatures beneath Tokyo’s Shinobazu Pond, a giant snail perched on the Eiffel Tower, a demon lord who looks like a beautiful girl …. Yet, in the underbelly of society, there are boys and girls who fight the coming apocalypse while giving it the middle finger. They can’t cancel the apocalypse, and they can only delay it. Still, they take their arms into battle. Why? To them, this is just day-to-day life, a ritual festival every day for the young.

Kadokawa published the first light novel volume with illustrations by Ogipote on July 10, 2025, and published the sixth volume on July 10, 2026. Hiroshi Sakurai began a manga adaptation on Kadokawa‘s Shōnen Ace Plus service in April 2024, and Kadokawa published the second manga volume on July 10.
