Publishing company Comisma (ComicSmart, Inc.) announced on Thursday that it has entered into an agreement with London-based company Akili International to develop and produce an English live-action film of Teito Yuzuriha’s Zukyun x Bakyun manga. Robby Monroe has been “engaged” to direct the film and pen the screenplay.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga, and describes the story:

Dan and Lyla are two highly trained, elite assassins who work together on the most dangerous of missions. They’ve only ever interacted on the job, so when Dan suddenly confesses his love for Lyla, the two find themselves up against something they have zero training for: romance! With their lives and hearts on the line, can this killer couple continue breaking bones without breaking each other’s hearts?

Yuzuriha launched the manga in Comisma’s GANMA! manga platform in October 2023, and ended it in September 2025. Comisma published the manga’s fifth compiled book volume digitally on January 1. Seven Seas Entertainment will release the first volume in September 2027.
