John Cena Still Fighting For WrestleMania In London: ‘This City Has Earned The Right’

John Cena is not done fighting for a WrestleMania in London. Three years after he surprised the crowd at WWE Money in the Bank 2023 by calling for the event in England’s capital, the 17-time world champion is still pushing hard for it.

Speaking on the Off The Menu podcast with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, Cena made his stance crystal clear. “I’m still an advocate to try and bring WrestleMania to London. I think London has earned the right to have the event,” he said. “What little stroke I have, I try to rile up the crowd a few times to say London has earned WrestleMania, and it did get people talking.”

This Year’s Show Is ‘Proof Of Concept’

Cena pointed to this year’s WrestleMania as evidence that taking the show overseas can work. “I am very excited about this year’s WrestleMania because it is the first WrestleMania outside of North America. It’s like proof of concept that it can be done,” he explained, adding that he hopes to return to the O2 Arena “and stake that claim again.”

The wrestling legend also said his original Money in the Bank moment was unscripted: “That was just me putting it out there. Honestly, it’s just my perspective. I look around and see the energy, passion, and enthusiasm.” He called WrestleMania “such a travel to event” and said London would be a great city for fans to explore while experiencing the Showcase of the Immortals.

Where Things Stand On WrestleMania’s Future

WrestleMania is already headed to Saudi Arabia in 2027, though no official dates have been announced yet. As for London, the picture is less clear: in May, the Mayor of London’s press office said there were no discussions about bringing WrestleMania to the city in 2028. Still, with Cena continuing to bang the drum publicly, the conversation is far from over.
