Nathan Fielder has revealed that Elizabeth Holmes called him from prison right before the theatrical release of his new documentary You Can See Everything — their first conversation in over six months.
The ex-Theranos CEO, currently serving time in federal prison after being convicted for fraud, apparently just wanted to reach out as the film about her neared theaters. What she said was strange, simple, and pure Fielder fodder.
‘I Trust You’
In a new interview with Wired magazine, Fielder recounted the call in full deadpan. Holmes hadn’t called in over half a year. She asked how he was doing. He asked whether she had seen any coverage of the film and how she felt about it.
She said she’d seen some things but mostly isn’t seeing much from inside — she’s heard things, but hasn’t really read anything. And then, at the end of the call, she repeated one phrase: I trust you.
Fielder’s response? “OK, thanks.” It reads like a scene from one of his own shows — the famously deadpan comedian navigating an interaction that is somehow both mundane and deeply bizarre.
The Documentary Nobody Saw Coming
You Can See Everything is Fielder’s documentary about the disgraced blood-testing startup founder — a pairing that surprised everyone when announced. Holmes, once Silicon Valley’s youngest female billionaire, is now one of the most notorious white-collar criminals in American history.
The fact that Holmes is still willing to talk to the man making a documentary about her — and reportedly told him, repeatedly, that she trusts him — adds another surreal layer to a story that was already stacked with them. Whether that trust survives the film itself remains to be seen.
