Jon Stewart to Remain ‘Daily Show’ Host Through 2028

Jon Stewart isn’t going anywhere. The comedy legend will continue to lead “The Daily Show” through 2028, extending his run as the show’s most iconic host well past the next U.S. presidential election.

Stewart has signed a two-year contract extension with the Comedy Central series, keeping him at the desk through 2028. His current deal was set to expire at the end of 2026, following a one-year renewal inked in November 2025.

Still the Anchor of the Rotation

Stewart remains the anchor of the show’s rotating lineup of hosts, which also features Ronny Chieng, Josh Johnson, Jordan Klepper, Michael Kosta, and Desi Lydic. Troy Iwata and Grace Kuhlenschmidt continue as non-hosting correspondents.

Beyond hosting, Stewart stays on as an executive producer, working alongside showrunner and executive producer Jen Flanz and his longtime manager, James “Baby Doll” Dixon.

Why It Matters

Since returning to “The Daily Show,” Stewart has re-established himself as one of late night’s most influential voices — and the timing of this extension is no accident. Locking him in through the next presidential election cycle gives Comedy Central its sharpest satirist exactly when political comedy is in peak demand.

For fans who feared his return would be a short-lived reunion tour, the message is clear: Stewart is settled in, the desk is his, and the 2028 election cycle is about to get the Jon Stewart treatment.
