The upcoming Korean film “The Table: Day and Night” has dropped a sneak peek at its characters’ relationships, teasing the witty, understated and quietly charming conversations shared by four pairs of men and women who cross paths at the same cafe. The film, which premiered as the opening film of this year’s Busan International Film Festival, hits theaters on November 4.

Set during the gentle transition from summer to fall, the film follows four couples whose lives intersect at one small cafe — each with their own story, and each arriving at a different time of day.
Yoo Jin (Kim Min Ha) and Hyeon Oh (Joo Jong Hyuk) share a chance encounter while visiting the cafe at different times of day. Meanwhile, Sang Mi (Han Sun Hwa) and Young Min (Chang Ryul) get an unexpected reunion years after attending the same private tutoring sessions in middle school.
Fiery First Meetings and Bittersweet Love
The sparks fly when web novel writer Hye Jin (Shim Eun Kyung) has a fiery first meeting with indie filmmaker Dong Nam (Lee Hee Joon), while aspiring idol Na Kyeong (Jeon So Young) and her boyfriend Jong Su (Kim Dong Hwi) share bittersweet moments that hint at a relationship under strain.
The newly released stills capture the full spectrum of emotions each character experiences — from the nervous thrill of a new connection to the ache of old wounds being reopened.
A Busan Opening Film Heads to Theaters
Being selected as the opening film of BIFF is a stamp of prestige, and “The Table: Day and Night” now heads to nationwide theaters on November 4, when audiences can see how all four stories unfold around the same table.
