120 FPS and Two-Player Co-op

The Switch 2 version will run at a framerate of up to 120 fps and will support co-op play for two players via GameShare. NIS America streamed an announcement trailer alongside the news.

The story follows Adol Christin, who wakes up shipwrecked and stranded on a cursed island. There, he and the other shipwrecked passengers he rescues form a village to challenge fearsome beasts and mysterious ruins on the isolated island. All the while, Adol dreams of a mysterious blue-haired maiden living in an unknown world — and joins players in unravelling the riddle of the cursed isle and the enigmatic Dana.

A Long Legacy

Ys VIII first launched for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in Japan in May 2017, arriving in North America and Europe that September. It later came to PC in April 2018, Nintendo Switch in June 2018, and PlayStation 5 in November 2022 — selling more than 500,000 copies worldwide as of October 2018.

A mobile version for iOS and Android has also been announced by Beijing-based Linekong Entertainment.
