A-DO Manga to End on November 18 After Seven-Year Run

A Long Road to the Finale

The road to the ending has been anything but smooth. The series entered a hiatus in October due to the author’s poor physical health, but thankfully resumed on February 19 this year. Fans got an early heads-up that the end was near: the manga’s 11th compiled book volume, released back in July 2025, reported that the series would wrap up with its 12th volume.

Interestingly, that 12th volume shipped on July 17, yet the manga kept going in the magazine — a sign the serialization outlasted its initial collection plan. Now, with the official announcement in Monthly Young Magazine, the series is confirmed to close out its run on November 18.

The Story of Riko and Eito

Amano launched A-DO in Monthly Young Magazine in June 2019, giving it a run of over seven years. The story is set in a Japan transformed by a wave of immigration, where clashing cultures and xenophobic extremist protests have made the streets volatile.

Into this powder keg rides Riko, a brash job-hopping young woman who spots a boy about to be run over by a truck during a protest. After saving him, she ends up looking after the mysterious boy, Eito. But an ordinary rescue turns extraordinary when an army sniper opens fire on them over a bowl of ramen — and plant-like tendrils snake out of Eito’s arm to stop the bullet mid-flight. The manga then follows Riko as she unravels the mystery of who Eito really is, and why the army is after him.

English Release

Kodansha USA Publishing is releasing the manga in English, with the 10th volume shipping on September 8. English readers should keep an eye out for the final volumes as the series concludes in Japan.
