Middle-earth is going to war. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power dropped its explosive Season 3 trailer on Wednesday ahead of its November 11 premiere on Prime Video, and it is every bit as epic as fans hoped — dragons, a Balrog, ringwraiths, and Sauron standing in the fires of Mount Doom.

Five Years After the Fall of Eregion
Season 3 picks up five years after the events of Season 2, and the map has changed. Sauron (Charlie Vickers) has conquered nearly all of Middle-earth since the fall of Eregion, and his armies of orcs, dragons, and his armored ring-servants — the Nazgnagôl, the Second Age predecessors of the Nazgûl — are marching toward total domination.
The trailer ends on a spine-chilling note: Sauron wearing the One Ring, standing before the fires of Mount Doom. The volcano erupted at the end of Season 1 and gave birth to Mordor; now it will forge the weapon that could enslave all of Middle-earth.
Dragons, a Talking Balrog, and Reunions
The footage is loaded with spectacle: elves clashing with orcs, dwarves bending the knee to Sauron, civil war raging in Númenor, and families torn apart in Khazad-dûm. In a series first, the Balrog speaks — voiced by Simon Pegg — and appears to fight Sauron himself.
There are emotional beats too. Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) reunites with her long-lost husband Celeborn (Jamie Campbell Bower), and declares, “All of it has come to this.” Meanwhile Gandalf (Daniel Weyman) embraces his full power in Rhûn, facing down a Nazgnagôl in single combat.
The eight-episode season launches with four episodes on November 11, followed by two more on November 18 and the finale pair on November 25. Showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay return alongside director Charlotte Brändström — and Prime Video has already renewed the saga for Season 4. Middle-earth’s final stand begins soon.
