Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain has never been shy about speaking his mind — and in a new interview with The Telegraph, the 74-year-old metal legend didn’t hold back about President Donald Trump. McBrain revealed he once turned down an invitation to play golf with Trump, then added that Trump and his “bunch of cronies” “should be put in jail.”

“I was actually invited to go and play golf with him,” McBrain said. “A friend of mine who’s a massive Republican said, ‘Oh, do you want to come and play golf with us? With the president.’ And I said, ‘You fucking what?’… and I just said, ‘No. No, mate.'”

“I’m Not Amused by the Narcissism”

McBrain, who lives in Florida not far from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, insisted he’s “not politically inclined” — but admitted he has strong views. He cited Trump’s “narcissism,” the controversy around the Epstein files, and U.S. actions involving Iran as things that trouble him.

He also took aim at Secretary of War Pete Hegseth: “And this Pete Hegseth business — oh, he’s going to be put in prison.” His parting shot: “My last word on Trump and his bunch of cronies is, they should be put in jail.”

Promoting a Memoir

The comments arrive as McBrain promotes his autobiography, “Hello Boys and Girls!”, released October 22. The book chronicles his journey from working-class North London to the drum throne of one of heavy metal’s greatest bands. McBrain retired from touring with Iron Maiden in December 2024 after 42 years, playing his final live show in São Paulo.

He’s not the only Maiden member to take shots at Trump this year — vocalist Bruce Dickinson mocked the president’s executive order renaming Lake Ontario during a concert in Toronto. Up the Irons, indeed.
