Triple H’s Plans for Bobby Roode’s WWE Backstage Future Revealed

Bobby Roode hasn’t wrestled in years, but WWE has big plans for him behind the scenes. Michael Hayes revealed on the October 22 episode of Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” that Triple H personally wants Roode groomed to eventually become the kind of backstage producer Hayes has been for WWE — a succession plan Hayes compared to Pat Patterson.

Triple H’s Plans for Bobby Roode’s Backstage Future

Hayes recalled Triple H approaching him with a blunt reminder about the future: “Trips came up to me one day and he goes, ‘So Michael, you know you’re not gonna be around forever.'” Hayes joked back — “What does that mean, life or work?” — before Triple H explained exactly what he meant: Roode would be developed into a successor for Hayes’ long-standing producer role.

The comparison to Pat Patterson, one of the most influential backstage figures in WWE history, shows just how highly Triple H rates Roode’s wrestling mind and future behind the scenes.

From Glorious Ring Career to WWE Producer

Roode’s in-ring résumé speaks for itself — a former NXT Champion and United States Champion whose “Glorious” persona made him a fan favorite. If Hayes’ account is accurate, Roode’s second act could be even more consequential: shaping the matches and careers of the next generation from behind the curtain.
