ECW Original Angel Medina Officially Retires After Final Match Against HC Loc

Another ECW original has officially called it a career. Angel Medina, best known to wrestling fans as Angel of The Baldies, wrestled his final match on October 23, 2026, closing the book on a career that ran through some of ECW’s wildest years. Rather than quietly fading away, the longtime veteran chose to go out in the ring one last time.

Medina officially retired at a FLEX Wrestling event in Elmira, New York, where he faced fellow ECW veteran HC Loc. Medina lost the match — but the result was almost beside the point. Longtime Baldies member Tony DeVito served as the special guest referee, turning the farewell into a reunion of three men who shared plenty of history during ECW’s original run.

Angel Medina Retires: From Spanish Angel to The Baldies

Trained by WWE Hall of Famer Johnny Rodz, Medina first made a name for himself on the New York City wrestling scene under the name Spanish Angel. His big break came in 1999 when he joined Extreme Championship Wrestling and became part of The Baldies — the rough-and-tumble stable that also featured Tony DeVito, Vic Grimes, and Big Vito at different points.

The group became a regular fixture on ECW television during the promotion’s run on TNN, with Medina primarily paired alongside DeVito. The Baldies were known for their violent, chaotic encounters — including a memorable and brutal rivalry with New Jack that remains one of the most talked-about feuds of that era.

Life After ECW: Puerto Rico, Law Enforcement, and One Final Bow

When ECW shut its doors in 2001, Medina kept wrestling and eventually worked for IWA in Puerto Rico. But he later stepped away from the business as a full-time career and moved into law enforcement in the Kansas area, trading the ring for a badge.

Although he continued making occasional wrestling appearances over the years, Medina eventually decided it was time to officially close that chapter. His match against HC Loc — with DeVito there to bring things full circle — marked his final appearance as an active wrestler, more than 25 years after his ECW debut.

Medina may not have been one of ECW’s biggest names, but he was part of the promotion during a period fans still remember for its chaotic matches and unforgettable rivalries. And he got the ending every wrestler hopes for: one last match, surrounded by the people he started with, walking away on his own terms.
