Table Goes Into Business for Itself at Greektown Wrestling as Joey Janela Suffers

At Greektown Wrestling on October 23, a table refused to break, and Joey Janela paid the price. Janela tried to put B3CCA through a table platformed between the ring and the guardrail, and it did not budge. Then B3CCA tried a middle rope splash on Janela, and it still did not break.

In wrestling, a table that will not break is a famous problem. The spot is supposed to end with a crash and a crowd pop. When the table holds firm, the wrestlers have to keep going, and the audience quickly realises something has gone very wrong, in the best possible way.

The Table That Would Not Break at Greektown

After Janela’s initial attempt and B3CCA’s splash both failed to break the table, Aaron Rourke tried a somersault senton onto Janela, and Marcus Mathers attempted a double stomp. Neither broke it either.

Mathers tried again with a slingshot splash, and still the table survived. By that point, the table itself had become the star of the match, earning its reputation as the stiffest table in the business.

Joey Janela’s Team Still Won

Despite the table’s refusal to cooperate, the match did reach a finish. In the record books, Janela teamed with Sloane Jacobs and Channing Decker to defeat Rourke, Mathers and B3CCA.

But the result is not what fans will remember. They will remember the table that went into business for itself, surviving dive after dive and turning a planned spot into an unforgettable, unintentionally hilarious sequence.

It is a reminder of why live wrestling is so unpredictable. No matter how carefully a spot is planned, sometimes the props have other ideas, and sometimes that makes the moment even better.
