“Second Signal” Broadcast Date Uncertain as tvN Says Nothing Confirmed

On October 25, a media outlet reported that tvN’s sequel to the hit 2016 drama Signal, titled Second Signal, would air its first episode on December 7. The report also suggested that the production, which had initially planned not to promote the drama, might hold a pre-recorded press conference with the cast except for Jo Jin Woong.

However, tvN responded briefly to the report, saying, “Nothing has been confirmed yet,” leaving the drama’s release in uncertainty once again.

Why “Second Signal” Has Been Delayed

Following the success of Signal Season 1 in 2016, expectations were high for Season 2, which was expected to air in June to mark tvN’s 20th anniversary but was postponed amid difficulties.

According to Koreaboo, the issue began with controversy surrounding actor Jo Jin Woong. Dispatch reported that he had been sent to a juvenile detention center during his teenage years, and after the allegations surfaced, his agency acknowledged past wrongdoing during his minority but denied the sexual assault allegations. Jo Jin Woong subsequently issued an apology through his agency and announced his intention to retire as an actor.

The news shocked viewers, given the contrast with Jo Jin Woong’s role as a righteous detective in Signal. It was reported that filming for Second Signal had already been completed by August 2025, deepening public disappointment over the drama’s uncertain fate.

What Happens Next for “Second Signal”

In 2026, opinions emerged that Season 2 could air without measures such as “total editing,” though removing Jo Jin Woong, who holds a significant role, would require editing other parts as well. The production team has yet to make an official statement on the matter.

Second Signal stars Jo Jin Woong alongside returning Season 1 cast members Kim Hye Soo and Lee Je Hoon. For now, fans waiting for the sequel’s return will have to keep waiting, with tvN’s latest response making clear that no broadcast date is set.
