The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom: A Pawsitively Fantastic Adventure anime has revealed a new main visual along with additional cast members, giving fans their clearest look yet at the fantasy comedy and its unlikely hero-and-dog duo. The announcement continues the build-up for an adaptation that leans hard into its odd-couple charm: an ancient, powerful sorcerer who has barely left home in centuries, and the loyal canine familiar who finally drags him back into the world.

Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom main visual and cast
The newly unveiled visual puts Asley and Pochi front and centre, setting the tone for a series that mixes laid-back comedy with high-level magic. Toshiyuki Toyonaga voices Asley, while Yoko Hikasa voices Pochi, a pairing that immediately suggests the banter at the heart of the show. Much of the humour comes from that dynamic: a sorcerer of enormous power who is, by his own reputation, something of a fool, constantly nudged — and occasionally scolded — by his far more grounded companion.
Behind the camera, Keisuke Onishi directs the series, with Kurasumi Sunayama handling series composition. Yumiko Mizuno designs the characters, and Yuri Habuka composes the music. That combination points to a production aiming for both warmth and spectacle: character designs that sell the comedy, and a score that can shift from cosy everyday scenes to full-scale magical confrontations.
What is The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom about?
The story follows Asley, an eternally youthful sorcerer who has spent roughly two thousand years largely on his own. His constant companion is Pochi, a Level 100 canine familiar whose patience finally runs out after two centuries of seclusion. Pochi insists that Asley get some fresh air, and that simple push sets the whole adventure in motion.
Once back in society, Asley has to relearn how to live among people — and how to live down his reputation. He sets out to shed some of the less flattering titles attached to his name and to rebuild a decent standing for himself, testing his magic against new rivals and new problems along the way. The journey also involves a mysterious contest known as the Familiar Feud, where Pochi may have a chance to shine in his own right.
It is a premise built for episodic fun: each new town, opponent, or misunderstanding gives Asley another chance to prove himself, fail spectacularly, or be rescued by common sense from his dog. Beneath the jokes, though, there is a genuine coming-out-of-his-shell arc — a man who has avoided the world for centuries learning, slowly and awkwardly, how to belong to it again.
The Eternal Fool’s Words of Wisdom source material
The anime adapts a light novel series written by Hifumi with illustrations by Kurihito Muto. The story began on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website, running from January 2015 to September 2019, before Earth Star Entertainment picked it up for print and published 14 volumes. A manga adaptation with art by Fuh Araki has been serialised on Comic Earth Star since April 2017 and has reached 13 volumes, while J-Novel Club licenses the manga in English.
That long publishing history gives the anime plenty of material to draw on, from Asley’s early misadventures back in civilisation to larger threats that test just how much power — and how much growth — the eternal fool really has. For newcomers, the new main visual is an inviting entry point; for existing readers, it is a welcome sign that the adaptation is moving forward with its central duo intact.
