TVXQ’s Changmin has shared a real-life encounter with legendary actor Won Bin, who has been on hiatus for 16 years, and the story has quickly captured the attention of K-Pop fans online. The veteran idol opened up about the moment during a recent video with instructor Lee Ji Young, and his reaction was pure fanboy.

After hearing Lee Ji Young’s own story about actress Kim Tae Hee, Changmin revealed that he had a similar experience of his own. He explained that he has long admired Won Bin, calling him incredibly handsome and revealing that he has watched the actor’s acclaimed film The Man from Nowhere more than 50 times.
TVXQ Changmin’s Won Bin Encounter at a Traffic Light
Changmin recalled driving when he stopped at a traffic light and noticed a man alone in the distance, radiating what he described as an unmistakable aura. Looking closer, he realised it was Won Bin himself. The idol joked that the actor’s face was so three-dimensional in real life that it left him stunned.
He admitted that, despite traffic laws, he was tempted to park his car, get out, and run over to meet the actor he has admired since he was very young. Instead, he had to keep driving — but not before taking one last look in his rearview mirror as he turned left, joking that his own face looked flat and two-dimensional by comparison.
Changmin ended the story with a smile, saying that becoming an acquaintance of Won Bin remains one of his remaining goals in the entertainment industry. It is a refreshingly honest admission from an idol who is himself a legend, showing that even stars have stars of their own.
Why Won Bin’s 16-Year Hiatus Still Fascinates Fans
Won Bin has not headlined a major project since The Man from Nowhere, and his long absence has only added to his mystique. Rare sightings and stories like Changmin’s tend to go viral precisely because the actor keeps such a low profile, and fans are always eager for any glimpse of him.
For Changmin, the encounter was clearly more than a casual celebrity sighting. It was a moment years in the making, built on genuine admiration for an actor whose work left a lasting impression on him long before he became a star himself.
Whether the two ever formally meet remains to be seen, but Changmin has now put his wish out into the world — and given fans a charming story that proves idols can be just as starstruck as anyone else.
