Bosch Has an 18V Battery That Works With 10 Different Tool Brands and 150+ Tools

If you have ever bought a cordless power tool, you know the trap: one brand means one battery system, and every new brand means new batteries and chargers. Bosch’s Power for All system breaks that rule, letting a single 18V battery work with 10 different tool brands across more than 150 tools.

One Bosch 18V Battery, 10 Brands, 150+ Tools

The idea is straightforward. Instead of locking you into one maker’s ecosystem, the Bosch Power for All Alliance lets one 18V PowerPlus battery power tools and products from a whole group of brands. The list includes Bosch Home & Garden tools, Bosch Home Appliances such as vacuum cleaners, Gardena garden tools, Husqvarna lawn equipment, and Gloria house and garden products, among others.

In total, that means more than 150 different power tools, vacuums, sprayers, lights and more, all running on the same battery pack. For a homeowner juggling a drill, a hedge trimmer, a lawn mower and a vacuum, the saving in money, storage space and electronic waste is obvious.

The Catch: Bosch Power for All Is Not Available in the US

There is one big catch, and it matters before you get excited. The Power for All system launched in 2020 and is popular in Europe and select international markets — but it is not available in the United States for homeowners.

Bosch does offer something similar in the US, but it is geared towards professionals rather than DIYers: the AMPShare system for professional-grade tools. So American readers cannot simply walk into a store and buy into the home version of the alliance.

It is also worth understanding why the idea has not spread further. Most brands would rather keep customers buying their own batteries and tools than share products and markets with competitors. Bosch and Gardena are the most active brands in the alliance, and both are co-owners of the system, which helps explain why it has survived where other cross-brand efforts have not.

Who Is Bosch Power for All Actually For?

The system is designed for casual weekend DIYers and homeowners who do light-duty tasks or occasional repairs, with a strong focus on gardening. If you want capable, lightweight and affordable tools without the battery hassle — and you are in Europe — it is well worth considering.

For everyone else, the lesson still stands: before buying into any cordless system, check how deep the battery range runs. A cheap drill is only cheap if you do not need to buy a whole new battery platform for every other tool in the shed.
