Christian Watson Hospital Trip: What Happened
The fifth-year wideout was hurt midway through the second quarter while catching a 53-yard pass from Jordan Love. Watson landed hard on the turf as he secured the ball, with Carolina cornerback Will Lee III also sustaining an apparent hamstring injury on the same play.
Watson stayed on the turf for a couple of minutes before walking to the blue medical tent, then to the locker room. Prime Video showed him climbing into the back of an ambulance under his own power, and the Packers initially listed him as questionable to return with a chest injury.
Watson Returns to the Game in the Third Quarter
Tests came back clean enough for Watson to return. He came running out of the tunnel with 6:56 left in the third quarter and re-entered the game with 4:01 left, catching a 6-yard pass on the opening play of the fourth to a roaring ovation from the Lambeau Field crowd.
After the game, Watson said he never wanted to go to the hospital, but he was initially spitting blood on the field, so the medical staff wanted to rule out internal bleeding in his chest. “I never wanted to go, I was hoping they would let me off. I said I was feeling better once I caught my breath,” he told Prime Video. The 53-yard catch had highlighted an impressive first half: six receptions on seven targets for 100 yards, his third 100-plus-yard receiving game of the season.
