Arkade Is a PC Peripheral That Turns Any Modern Shooter Into a Light Gun Game — Hands-On at Gamescom Asia 2026

If you miss the days of Time Crisis, Virtua Cop, or even Duck Hunt, the Arkade Gaming Gun should be firmly in your sights. IGN went hands-on with the motion-controlled PC gun controller at Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2026, and the pitch is simple: plug it in, point it at your screen, and every modern shooter becomes a light gun game. It is due to release sometime in 2027.

How the Arkade Gaming Gun Works — No Webcam, No Sensor Bar

The standout detail is that Arkade’s proprietary tracking doesn’t need a webcam or a Wii-style sensor bar pointed at your display. It is completely plug and play: connect its charging dock to your PC via USB-C, and the dock doubles as the gun’s wireless receiver. A device manager app lets you customize the button layout and calibrate tracking, and away you go.

You cradle the Arkade in a two-handed grip. Character movement — D-Pad or WASD-style — is handled by a thumbstick jutting from the side of the chunky barrel, which pulses with customizable LED graphics, with a pair of buttons on the other side for moves like jumping, and rear controls for weapon-switching. Aiming itself is handled by the gun’s physical motion.

Why the Arkade Gaming Gun Matters for PC Shooters

Light guns died with CRT televisions, and the genre never fully recovered — but the Arkade sidesteps that problem entirely by working with any modern display. For players raised on arcade shooters who now live on PC, the idea of aiming by pointing a physical gun rather than dragging a mouse is a genuine novelty in an era where almost every peripheral is a keyboard or gamepad variant.

Price and pre-order details haven’t been announced yet. Expect more once Arkade gets closer to its 2027 launch.
