The Jillaroos produced the biggest scoreline in international rugby league history on November 1, 2026, hammering Wales 124-6 in Sydney at the Rugby League World Cup. The defending champions ran in 21 tries in a mismatch that rewrote the record books.

The half-time score of 60-0 was already the biggest of any World Cup match — men’s or women’s — and the Australians refused to ease off after the break. Wing Jaime Chapman’s sixth try in the final minute sealed the record, beating the previous biggest international score of 122-8 set by Denmark men against Sweden in 2012.
Australia vs Wales: How the Record Was Broken
The rout began in the sixth minute through lock Olivia Kernick, and the floodgates opened quickly. Chapman scored a double down the left, Abbi Church powered through weak tackles on the right, and Jessica Sergis weaved her way to the half-century mark. Australia had 84% possession in the first half and completed 21 of 22 sets.
Sergis finished with four tries, Chapman six, and Jesse Southwell kicked 20 goals as the Jillaroos passed their previous World Cup record of 92-0 against France set in 2022, hitting three figures when extras were added to Tamika Upton’s breakaway.
Wales’ Historic Moment Amid the Defeat
Amid the destruction, Wales found their moment of glory. At 100-0 down, Paige Travis won the race to Tayla Preston’s kick-through to become the first side to score against the Jillaroos in the tournament — sparking wild celebrations from the Welsh camp.
It was only Wales’ 16th fixture as a team, and their first against Australia — they played their first Test only in 2021. Already beaten 70-6 by England and 76-0 by Samoa at this World Cup, Tom Brindle’s side at least refused to quit. “We just wanted to create a legacy back home for young girls coming through,” the team reflected after the match.
The 118-point winning margin is the largest in any women’s match. The Jillaroos march on hunting a fourth successive World Cup title — and on this evidence, stopping them will take something special.
