Marquez Malaysian GP Win: First Sepang Victory Since 2018

It was Marquez’s first win in Malaysia since 2018, and it moved him up to 399 points in the standings. The Spaniard will seal the title with two rounds remaining if he can extend his lead to 74 points at the Qatar Grand Prix next week.

“We did a perfect race, so I’m super, super happy,” said Marquez. “But my mentality still cannot change. I have to keep focus, keep pushing. There are not many races to go, but there are many moments left. So, we must be super confident.”

Alex Marquez Third as Martin Misses Race With Fractured Wrist

The Marquez brothers scrapped for the lead early before Marc pulled away, leaving Alex to tussle for the remaining podium spots with Pedro Acosta, who finished second ahead of Alex in third.

Meanwhile, Jorge Martin — the 2024 champion — tried to ride in the morning practice session but had to withdraw, struggling with the fractured wrist he suffered in a crash at last week’s Australian Grand Prix. His absence leaves Marquez, a seven-time MotoGP champion, firmly in control of the title race.
