Remembering a Stage and Screen Legend
Patrick Stewart was revered for his commanding roles as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and Professor Charles Xavier in the “X-Men” films, alongside a legendary stage career with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His 1994 SNL hosting stint remains a fan favorite, and the show’s quiet tribute — the archive clip and promo photo before the goodnights — was a fitting farewell to a three-time Oscar nominee.
