Speaking with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Maclin recalled catching up with Cardona at Epcot, where the two friends walked around together on a Disney day and talked shop. “Obviously he was like, ‘I’m so pumped for you,'” Maclin said, adding that Cardona checked in on how his ankle was feeling.
Maclin and Cardona shared the ring on an episode of TNA Impact back in April 2025 — and Maclin believes the two had far more to give together in TNA than they ever got the chance to show.
Steve Maclin Regrets Missed Opportunities With Matt Cardona in TNA
“We were on the same page where Cardona and I know we’re going to go out there and we’re going to kill it. We don’t have to tell each other how to do things. We have that respect factor, especially being in the ring together,” Maclin said.
“I felt he and I had so much mileage we could have done in TNA together, but that didn’t come to fruition.”
Maclin Wants a Full-Blown Feud With Cardona
Asked whether that unfinished business could become a feud down the line, Maclin didn’t hesitate: “Hopefully at some point that’d be an awesome feud to have because I loved working with Matt and he’s one of my close friends outside of wrestling and he’s somebody that I go to for advice.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Maclin discussed Deonna Purrazzo’s involvement at MLP Northern Rising and named Josh Alexander as his dream Maple Leaf Pro opponent. Fans can also check out the two-part documentary on Maclin’s journey to Northern Rising on the Boots To Boots YouTube channel.
