Scotland Squad: McTominay, Tierney and Adams Return as James Penrice Earns First Call-Up

Head coach Sebastien Pocognoli has named a 26-man squad for Scotland’s remaining Nations League fixtures, with Scott McTominay, Kieran Tierney and Che Adams all returning — and a first senior call-up for James Penrice.

Scotland face North Macedonia at home and Switzerland away in their final two Group B1 matches, needing a minimum of four points to have any chance of finishing second and reaching the promotion play-offs.

McTominay Back After Heart Procedure

Napoli star McTominay missed games for club and country in September and October following a minor heart procedure, but has hit the ground running since his return, scoring four goals in seven outings for the Serie A club.

Tierney (Celtic) and Torino striker Adams also return, with Adams having doubled his season tally with two goals in five Serie A games after a brief layoff with an adductor issue.

Uncapped Kristi Montgomery, a late addition last time, retains his place after starting all but one of Blackburn Rovers’ Championship matches this season.

James Penrice Earns First Scotland Call

The headline new face is 27-year-old left-back James Penrice, who has impressed for Rangers since arriving on loan from AEK Athens. His first senior call-up is a reward for strong early-season form in Glasgow.

Missing out through injury are Scott McKenna and Kenny McLean, while Lennon Miller, Josh Doig, Colby Donovan and James Wilson drop out of the squad entirely.

Pocognoli has trimmed his squad from the extended 28-man pool used in the first four matches — which included disappointing home defeats to Switzerland and Slovenia — down to 26, sticking with four goalkeepers. Scotland sit third in Group B1: four points could still deliver second, while a single point would stave off any threat of relegation.
