Episode 14 – Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation III

At the end of last season, it truly felt like we had reached the end of the beginning. Rudeus had done all he set out to do—reunited his family, healed his emotional wounds, and found true love. But with this episode, after a cour of tying up loose ends, it feels like we’ve finally hit the beginning of the end.
After 62 episodes and an OVA, we finally understand what’s going on. The Man-God can see the future and knows that Rudeus’ descendants will eventually team up with Orsted and kill him. Numerous times, he’s tried to kill Rudeus and Roxy (and I assume Sylphie and Eris as well).
However, he’s faced two issues. One is that Rudeus is a wild card (probably due to his isekai nature) and can’t be controlled directly. The other is that those with strong fates important to the world are resistant to the Man-God’s meddling. So while he still tried to kill Rudeus and those who would become his family, it was always unlikely to succeed. But there is a loophole to this. When a woman is pregnant—when both her life and the life within her are connected—fate’s strength is greatly diminished.
This leads us into the unspoken threat of this episode. For the next 9 months (assuming that’s how long it takes for Demons), Roxy can be killed. And while he failed with the rat ploy, there’s nothing to stop the Man-God from using any of his agents to attack Rudeus again and again in different ways. The Man-God only needs to succeed once, and he’s won.
However, if the Man-God were to go all out and lose, it would almost certainly cause Rudeus to be his lifelong enemy—ensuring that those fated to kill him would be very much on board with that idea. This is why the Man-God suggests another possibility: have Rudeus kill Orsted. If Orsted is dead, then the threat to the Man-God is ended just as if Roxy or her child were dead. Moreover, no matter how the fight turns out, the Man-God wins. Either Orsted dies or Rudeus does.
Rudeus, of course, agrees to this. He doesn’t particularly like Orsted and would instantly choose the life of his family over the swordsman’s. But beyond that, agreeing to the Man-God’s plan grants Rudeus what he needs most: time. Every day he’s working on hunting down Orsted is another day that Roxy is safe—another day that they can all use to prepare in case things go pear-shaped. Rudeus is basically running out the clock even as he prepares for a likely suicide mission—which brings us to Eris.
While Rudeus had planned on reaching out to Eris regardless—had even written the first page of his letter—he adds the second page to hedge his bets. Rudeus wants as much protection at home as possible—wants everyone possible to be there in case the Man-God tries at Roxy. However, he needs help in his fight against Orsted, and so he cajoles Eris into coming to help him—trusting in his future self’s interpretation of Eris and her desires.
And this scene is actually the best part of the episode. Through both the letter and her friend’s reactions to it, Eris can see three things: 1) that she messed up by leaving as she did; 2) that, while not the ideal she had hoped for, there is still a place for her in his life and in his heart; and 3) that he needs her.
This final part truly motivates her. He recognizes her hard work—that all the time she has spent training has been worth it. She has succeeded in what she set out to do—to be strong enough to stand by Rudeus’ side. And despite the friends and lovers Rudeus has gained in her absence, the person he has chosen to head into danger with is her. The fact that Orsted, the target of her martial obsession, is the man they’re going to fight is just the cherry on top of the whole sundae.
And with that, we end this first half of Mushoku Tensei III with Rudeus and Eris’ rematch with Orsted looming on the horizon. Of course, before we get there, we’ll no doubt have conversations with a loyalty-torn Nanahoshi, Eris meeting the other wives, and numerous unforeseen issues. But to be frank, this is the most excited I’ve ever been for Mushoku Tensei—and the next cour can’t come soon enough.

Publishing company Square Enix announced on Wednesday that Mochimaru Sakaki‘s Sekai Saikyou no Majo, Hajimemashita: Watashi dake “Kouryaku Site” wo Mireru Sekai de Jiyuu ni Ikimasu (The World’s Strongest Witch: I’m Starting My Free Life in a World Where Only I Can See the Online Strategy Guide) light novel will end with its sixth volume on October 7.
Sakaki began penning the fantasy adventure series on both the Shousetsuka ni Narou and Kakuyomu websites simultaneously in May 2022. Square Enix began publishing the novel through its SQEX Novel imprint in December 2022, featuring illustrations by riritto. The fifth volume was released in May 2025.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in February 2025 and released the first volume in August 2025. The third volume will go on sale on November 10.
Tamaki Toga began drawing a manga adaptation in Getsumaga Kichi magazine in May 2023. Kodansha released the 13th volume on August 7.
A television anime adaptation produced by Bridge and Aisle is scheduled to premiere on October 7.

Viz Media announced on Monday that the Naruto franchise will have a new television anime “limited” series. The “NARUTO: What’s Next?” panel at New York Comic Con will announce details about the new anime on October 10 at 5:00 p.m. EDT (2:00 p.m. PDT or October 11 at 6:00 a.m. JST) . The panel will have a live stream worldwide at the below YouTube link:
Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, the voice of Naruto and Sasuke in the anime, will appear at the panel, along with Pierrot Films executive producer Yoshihiro Tominaga.
Kishimoto launched the Naruto ninja manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1999, and ended the series in November 2014. The manga has spawned the Naruto and Naruto Shippūden television anime series, original video anime (OVA) projects, several anime films, spinoff manga, the Boruto sequel manga and anime series, a series of novels, stage plays, and video games.
Lionsgate is producing a Hollywood live-action film adaptation of the manga. The official website for the Naruto franchise announced on July 10 that the live-action film project had begun a global casting search for the main characters Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, with casting for other characters to come at a later date. Charles Melton (Riverdale, Beef) is “in final negotiations” to play the mentoring ninja Kakashi Hatake in the film. Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day) is directing the film, and is also producing the film through his company Hisako alongside Jeyun Munford. Arad Productions‘ Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Emmy Yu as well as Jeremy Latcham are listed as producers.

The last episode of the anime for this year aired on Fuji TV on Sunday, with the anime continuing next year. The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus anime will take over One Piece‘s Sunday 11:15 p.m. timeslot on Fuji TV, starting on October 11.
The Elbaph arc of the One Piece anime debuted in Japan on April 5. Crunchyroll is streaming the arc.
Toei Animation and One Piece anime producer Ryūta Koike announced in October 2025 that the anime was reducing its annual episode output to a maximum of 26 episodes moving forward starting in 2026. Following the conclusion of the Egghead arc last year, the anime took a three-month production hiatus from January-March 2026. The anime returned in April 2026 for the first of two cours (quarters of a year) with the start of the new Elbaph arc.
According to Toei Animation, the new schedule allows episodes to “incorporate more content, tempo, and pacing of the manga while continuing to leverage the unique storytelling that is only possible with animation.” Historically, with only few exceptions, the anime has aired most weeks since its premiere in 1999. However, the pace has slowed considerably over the years.

Dragon Ball franchise executive producer Akio Iyoku stated that work on the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus television anime series started a few years ago and is an “enhanced” edition of the Dragon Ball Super anime that features a reconstruction of the story, and includes new and redrawn cuts.
The official announcement of the anime stated:
The project features extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects, and a full reconstruction of the story. Living up to the name ENHANCED, this edition employs the latest visual expression to deliver greater power and immersion across all scenes, especially the battle sequences. The result is an ENHANCED edition that expresses Akira Toriyama‘s original idea and worldbuilding more accurately, that will be broadcasted with highly satisfying quality.

Several years have passed since the fierce battle against Majin Buu, and Earth has finally regained a brief moment of peace. At the same time, Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from his long, deep sleep. Even Kai and Supreme Kai, aware of Beerus’s overwhelming power to destroy entire planets, watch his awakening with great fear… Meanwhile, Beerus hears rumors of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza—and suddenly appears before Goku.Targeted by Beerus, the strongest being in the universe, Earth is in grave danger. Thus begins an Earth-shattering cosmic battle between the God of Destruction and Goku and his allies—a conflict that will shake the entire universe.
Dragon Ball Super premiered in July 2015 and aired for 131 episodes until March 2018. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and Funimation released the series on home video. Funimation debuted the English dub to its streaming service in December 2016. The English dub premiered on Adult Swim‘s Toonami block in January 2017.
