Netflix’s gentleman thief is back — and this time, the star is calling the shots. Omar Sy has taken on a new role behind the scenes of Lupin, serving as co-showrunner alongside Louis Leterrier for the show’s fourth part, while also producing through their joint banner Carrousel Studios.

The hit French heist series returns three years after Part 3, with all eight episodes of Part 4 set to stream on Netflix on October 23, 2026. Sy reprises his role as Assane Diop, the modern-day gentleman thief inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s classic Arsène Lupin character.
Prison Break and a Copycat Thief
Part 4 picks up four years after the events of Part 3. Assane is behind bars, hoping to serve out his time quietly and then relocate to Senegal with his son. But his plans unravel when a mysterious figure claiming to be Lupin stages simultaneous museum heists across Paris.
Framed by manipulated evidence — including footage from a robbery where Captain Belkacem is seriously injured — Assane must break out of prison, clear his name, and expose the copycat before the Lupin identity is stolen from him for good.
Sy’s Creative Takeover
Sy previously served as artistic producer on the series, but this marks his debut as a full co-showrunner. Leterrier, who directed several episodes of Part 1, now shares the reins with the star himself. Returning cast members include Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, and Shirine Boutella, alongside newcomers Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
Beyond Lupin, Sy is developing Black Dumas, a project he believes will spark genuine political debate in France — proof that the actor is using his newfound creative power for stories that go well beyond the heist.
The series has contributed more than €90 million to the French economy across its first three seasons, cementing its status as one of Netflix’s biggest non-English hits. All eight episodes arrive October 23.
