Three Titles Defended in Gatineau
It was a big night for championship wrestling. Jackson Drake retained the NXT North American Championship in a three-way dance against Saquon Shugars and Tavion Heights, with the Vanity Project at ringside. The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes) also held onto the NXT Tag Team Championships, defeating Los Americanos (Rayo & Bravo) with Myka Lockwood and Jackson Drake in their corner.
On the women’s side, Zaria successfully defended the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Izzi Dame, continuing her dominant reign.
Kevin Owens Leads the Main Event
The night’s biggest spectacle saw main-roster star Kevin Owens team with Tony D’Angelo, Shiloh Hill, and Kendal Grey to defeat BirthRight — the faction of Lexis King, Uriah Connors, Charlie Dempsey, and Arianna Grace — in an eight-person tag team main event. Owens, a proud Canadian, always gets a hero’s welcome north of the border, and the Gatineau crowd ate it up.
Elsewhere on the card, Hank Walker & Tank Ledger opened the show with a win over DarkState’s Cutler James & Osiris Griffin, and Thea Hail picked up a victory over Karmen Petrovic.
NXT’s house show loop continues to be one of WWE’s best-kept secrets — a proving ground where future main-eventers sharpen their craft in front of live crowds every weekend.
