BLACKPINK’s Lisa has found her new mini-album at the center of a heated online debate. Her first mini-album, Press Play, featuring the singles “Tarantino” and “Sawadika,” dropped on October 23 in physical formats — and its early sales numbers have sparked sharply divided reactions.

According to a known reporting source tracking Hanteo Chart figures, the album sold a bit over 27,000 copies in its first three days of tracking, with the first update arriving on October 26. Some online critics seized on the number to mock Lisa, claiming her influence and popularity have fallen.
Lisa Press Play Album Sales Spark Mixed Reactions
Fans quickly pushed back against the mocking. Their key point: the Hanteo-tracked figure does not tell the full story of the release. Lisa runs her own company, LLOUD, and sells versions of Press Play through her own website — which fans note has sold out on more than one occasion.
Crucially, Lisa’s own website does not mention reporting its sales to Hanteo, unlike other retailers that do. That means a significant chunk of sales may simply not be reflected in the tracked number at all.
Why Lisa’s Press Play Sales Numbers Don’t Tell the Full Story
Supporters also point out that Press Play is a pricey release with only six songs, and that Lisa is operating independently rather than through a major Korean label’s distribution machine. Selling out her own store’s stock while running her own company, they argue, is a success in its own right.
The debate highlights how tricky it is to read K-pop sales figures in the streaming era — especially for independent artists whose distribution doesn’t flow through the usual chart-reporting channels. The full picture will only emerge as more tracking days come in and as Lisa’s own-store sales become clearer.
One thing is certain: Lisa’s fans aren’t letting the mockery go unanswered, and Press Play’s rollout is far from over.
