Pokémon Horizons Anime Reveals New Character, Theme Songs for ‘Wonder Voyage’ Arc – News
The staff of the Pokémon: Horizons anime revealed on Friday a new character and theme songs for the new “Wonder Voyage” arc. The protagonists’ voice actresses Minori Suzuki (as Liko) and Yuka Terasaki (as Roy) perform the new opening theme song “Sekai Tsunagare,” produced by HoneyWorks. CUTIE STREET perform the new ending theme song “Cute na Kyūtai.” The arc introduces Navi, a girl from Lumiose City who meets a Ditto from an airship:

The next arc “Wonder Voyage” will premiere on May 22. The staff unveiled a new visual that centers on Ditto and a new character. The visual (pictured right) teases images based on Pokémon spinoff games Pokémon Go, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon Sleep:
The anime entered a new arc last October. In the arc, the characters go to Blueberry Academy, originally introduced in “The Indigo Disk” DLC from the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet games.
The anime premiered in Japan in April 2023 with a one-hour first-episode special. The show airs on Fridays at 6:55 p.m. JST. The anime started its second arc, “Terapagos no Kagayaki” (The Brilliance of Terapagos), with its 29th episode in October 2023 in Japan. The “Terastal Debut” arc for the anime debuted in April 2024. The fourth arc started in Japan in October 2024, and it featured characters from Kitakami, a location in “The Teal Mask” expansion for the Pokémon Scarlet/Violet games.
The anime follows completely new dual protagonists, who are named Liko and Roy. The anime features Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet video games, and also the Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza in its Shiny form. The anime also introduces the new characters Friede and Captain Pikachu, who are a Pokémon professor and Pokémon partner duo who battle alongside Liko and Roy.
Saori Den (Mirage Queen Prefers Circus) is directing the anime, and Daiki Tomiyasu (Pokémon Sun & Moon, Pocket Monster Mezase Pokémon Master) is serving as creative director. Dai Satō (Eureka Seven, Wolf’s Rain, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop) is overseeing the series scripts. Tetsuo Yajima is the action director, Rei Yamazaki is the character designer, and Kyōko Itō is the sub-character designer. Masafumi Mima is the sound director and Conisch is composing the music.
The Pokémon Company had originally announced that the anime would debut on Netflix in the U.S. in February 2024, but the series debuted instead in March 2024. Netflix premiered Pokémon Horizons: The Series—The Search for Laqua, the anime’s second season, in February 2025.
The Pokémon Scarlet/Violet games launched on Nintendo Switch worldwide in November 2022. “The Indigo Disk,” the second part of the DLC, launched in December 2023. “The Teal Mask,” the first DLC, launched in September 2023.
Pokémon Legends Z-A launched for Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 last October.

‘Mairimashita! Iruma-kun’ Anime Movie Announced

The Mairimashita! Iruma-kun (Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun) special event “Devils Party 2” announced an anime movie project for the franchise on Sunday. The official website also revealed an announcement image (pictured above) and announcement promo.
Produced by Bandai Namco Pictures, the first season aired in 23 episodes in Fall 2019. The second and third seasons ran for 21 episodes in Spring 2021 and Fall 2022, respectively. The 24-episode fourth season premiered on April 4 and concluded on September 26. Crunchyroll simulcast the television anime series with subtitles worldwide, excluding Asia.
A television anime adaptation of the spin-off manga Mairimashita! Iruma-kun: if Episode of Mafia was announced for a January 2027 premiere.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun adapts Osamu Nishi‘s demon comedy manga, which began serializing in Weekly Shounen Champion in March 2017. Akita Shoten released the 50th volume on September 8. The series has over 20 million cumulative copies of its volumes in circulation.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in July 2022 and published the 21th volume on August 4. The 22th volume is scheduled for an October 6 release.

We Are Aliens Film, Eri Short Anime, Candy Caries Win at Ottawa Int’l Animation Festival – News

NOTHING NEW‘s We Are Aliens (Ware Ware wa Uchūjin) anime film, Honami Yano‘s Eri animated short, and Tomoki Misato and Wit Studio‘s original television anime Candy Caries were all awarded at the 50th Anniversary Awards Ceremony of the Ottawa International Animation Festival, on Saturday. We Are Aliens won the Grand Prize for Animated Feature, Eri won the Best Animated Short Award, and Candy Caries won at the Animation for Young Audiences 7+ Competition.
We Are Aliens opened in Japan on Friday. Kōhei Kadowaki directed the film. The film screened at the Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, and screened in competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which ran from June 21 to 27. Aside from the Ottawa International Film Festival (OIAF), the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) also screened the film. The film will screen in the “Japanese Animation Special: Masterpieces of Madness, Exhilarating Prospects 12+1” category of the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), which will take place on October 6-15.
Kadowaki, who created the second BEASTARS season’s ending sequence and music videos for YOASOBI, served as the film’s planner, scriptwriter, director, storyboard artist, and editor. Yaffle — who previously produced music for Fujii Kaze, Kenshi Yonezu, and others — composed the music. NOTHING NEW planned and produced the film, and French studio Miyu Productions (Ghost Cat Anzu, A New Dawn) collaborated on the production, after joining on the project in June 2025. adieu performs the film’s theme song “Sasakure” (Split).
Director Honami Yano describes Eri:
In a world where dairy cows must bear calves to survive, Eri, a Holstein, falls in love with another cow.
Her sighs linger through sleepless nights — will they find their way to the one she loves?
Yano (A Bite of Bone, ChromosomeSweetheart) wrote the script, animated, and directed the Japanese-French production Eri short. It is an adaptation of Kasumi Asakura’s 2008 Hoka ni Dare ga iru (Who Else is There?) novel. The short had its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival held on May 14.

The Candy Caries original television anime premiered within the Yoru no Brunch variety program on TBS on April 15. Amazon Prime Video streams the anime.
Misato (Pui Pui Molcar) and Wit Studio are credited for the original work. Misato is directing the series at TORUKU from WIT STUDIO. Kenshirō Morii (Anime-Gataris, Grand Blues!) serves as assistant director. Chiaki Nishiaka (The Ancient Magus’ Bride, Shinkalion Change the World) writes the script and Akari Saitō (Etotama, Spy×Family) edits the series. Keigo Hoashi (Summer Time Rendering, Dusk maiden of Amnesia) composes the music.
The Candy Caries anime is a slapstick comedy about Ame, a child who loves sweets, and the tooth decay that lives in her mouth called Caries. Caries lives a carefree life inside Ame’s mouth and even calls her “Mama,” and Ame’s body is always at Caries’ mercy.
Candy Caries was first revealed as a stop-motion anime promotional video in 2021 after Wit Studio had established a stop-motion studio with Misato in December 2020.
According to Misato, he used plastic board and acrylic for Candy Caries, and describes it as a semi three-dimensional animation that’s “flat like an illustration, but plump and thick.”

Millennium Family TV Anime Casts Lynn – News
The staff for the television anime of Sho Kasugai‘s Millennium Family (Odoru Sennen Kazoku) manga announced on Sunday that Lynn will voice the character Eve, the eldest daughter of the Benfield family.

Hiroshi Yoneda (Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya: Vow in the Snow) is the character designer and chief animation director.
AI localization company Orange Inc.‘s e-bookstore service emaqi licensed the manga, and it describes the story:
