Rokuhōdō Yotsuiro Biyori Manga Gets Stage Musical in October – News

Manga about workers at tea house inspired anime in 2019, live-action series in 2022

Shinchosha announced on Friday that Yū Shimizu‘s Rokuhōdō Yotsuiro Biyori manga is inspiring its first stage musical adaptation that will run in Shibuya in Tokyo from October 16-25. Shimizu drew the below visual to commemorate the announcement.

The musical will star:

  • Kaname Futaba as Sui
  • Ryō Hirano as Tokitaka
  • Taiki Naito as Tsubaki
  • Yūya Uno as Gure
  • Yū Futaba as Yakyō
  • Kazuya Matsunaga as Kadosaki
  • Hiroshi Hatanaka as Nakano-san, Amagami-san

Tsuneyasu Motoyoshi is penning the script and writing the lyrics. Kotona Nishi is the composer and musical director, and Yūichi Harada is directing the play.

The manga inspired an anime that premiered in April 2019. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The story of both the original manga and the anime takes place at a popular Japanese-style tea house called Rokuhōdō. Four specialists work there: Sui makes the tea, Gure creates latte art, Tsubaki makes the sweets, and Tokitaka cooks. In addition to serving their customers, they sometimes help them solve their problems.

A live-action series adaptation debuted in Japan in January 2022.

Shimizu’s original manga launched in Go Go Bunch in October 2013. The manga moved to Monthly Comic @Bunch in January 2018 shortly before Go Go Bunch ended publication. Shinchosha published the 22nd compiled book volume on January 8.

Webtoon ‘Villains Are Destined to Die’ Gets TV Anime

Publishing company Kakao Piccoma announced a television anime adaptation of Gyeoeul Gwon’s Villains Are Destined to Die webtoon on Sunday, revealing a visual commemorating the conclusion of the main story (pictured above).

Gwon penned the original web novel on the KakaoPage website from March 2019 to August 2020. D&C Media published the series in four volumes, as well as the side story the following month.

SUOL originally began drawing the webtoon on the Kakao Webtoon platform in May 2020 and ended the main story with 214 chapters on Sunday. D&C Media published the ninth volume on January 29.

Tapas released the web novel in English between September to December in 2023. Yen Press licensed the novel in English for physical release under its Ize Press imprint in October 2024 and released the third volume on May 12. The fourth volume is planned for a September 15 release.

Tapas began publishing the webtoon chapters digitally in English in October 2020. Yen Press licensed the webtoon under its Ize Press label in July 2022 and published the eighth volume in November 2025. The ninth volume is scheduled to go on sale on August 18.

Synopsis

The latest otome game is all the rage recently, so a regular university student decides to see for herself if its fame is well-deserved. She clears the normal mode in no time and finds herself pitying the villainess, Penelope Eckhart. Penelope is a fake―a replacement for the duke’s missing daughter, the protagonist of the game.

Initially confident about clearing the hard mode as well, the woman is shocked by the sheer leap in the level of difficulty, eventually passing out from exhaustion. However, when she wakes up, she no longer recognizes her surroundings, for she has been reincarnated into the body of the villainess!
