Manga ‘Kanojo no Tomodachi’ Gets TV Anime in 2026

WWWaveCorporation‘s Deregula animation label announced a television anime adaptation of Jyura‘s Kanojo no Tomodachi (My Girlfriend’s Friend) manga on Wednesday, revealing an illustration drawn by the creator (pictured above). The anime series is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Jyura began serializing the erotic drama manga on Young Magazine Web in May 2021. Kodansha released the sixth volume in October 2025.
Synopsis
Takeru Hidaka is an ambitious high school student aiming for medical school. He has just started dating his first girlfriend, Kaori Koga, and to everyone else, their relationship seems perfectly harmonious.
However, that peace is threatened when Kaori’s best friend, Tomoko Yoshioka, begins to flirt with and seduce Takeru. Caught between loyalty to his girlfriend and Tomoko’s advances, Takeru falls into a double life and a complicated affair. Now, he must navigate a web of lies that puts both his academic future and his emotional connections at risk, all while the constant threat of his secret being exposed looms over him.

Yuki Ikeda’s Thunder 3 Manga Ends on June 5 – News
Manga’s anime adaptation premieres in July

The June issue of Kodansha‘s Monthly Shonen Magazine revealed on Thursday that Yuki Ikeda‘s Thunder 3 manga will end in the magazine’s next issue on June 5.
The series entered its climax in January 2025, then went on hiatus in March that same year due to Ikeda’s health. The manga returned from its hiatus in February.
Kodansha USA publishes the series in English and describes the story:
Three ordinary schoolboys come into possession of a DVD that supposedly opens a gateway to a parallel universe, but when their backs are turned Pyontaro’s little sister Futaba passes through and gets kidnapped by the aliens that have overrun that version of Earth! Discovering that their cartoonish bodies make them supermen in the hyper-realistic parallel universe, the boys set out to rescue Futaba.
Ikeda launched the series in Monthly Shonen Magazine in May 2022. Kodansha shipped the eighth compiled book volume in January 2025. Kodansha USA shipped the eighth volume on February 10.
The manga’s television anime adaptation will debut in July on the +Ultra programming block on uji TV and other channels.

Golden Trailer Awards Nominate Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc Anime Film, KPop Demon Hunters Film, More – News

The Golden Trailer Awards — which recognize the year’s most outstanding achievements in film marketing — announced its nominees on Tuesday. The 26th annual event nominated the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc film for “Best Foreign Animation/Family” and Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ animated film KPop Demon Hunters for “Best Animation/Family.” Kpop Demon Hunters also got a nomination in the “Best Animation/Family Poster” category for its “Payoff” poster.
Silent Hill f, the recent spinoff game in the franchise, received a nomination in the “Best Video Game Trailer” category for its live-action trailer. The live-action Return to Silent Hill film also got a nomination for its “Let Go” trailer in the “Golden Fleece” category, which recognizes films whose trailers elevated them despite not being a critical or commercial success.
The live-action film of KOTAKE CREATE‘s infinite-loop horror game Exit 8 (8-Ban Deguchi) was nominated in the “Best Foreign Teaser,” “Best Foreign Thriller,” “Best Original Foreign Trailer,” “Best Independent Trailer Ultra Low (for film budget shot under $3.2million)” category for its “SO SAD” trailer. The film also got two nominations for “Best Foreign Horror,” with one of them for its “So Sad” trailer.
Legendary Entertainment‘s live-action film of CAPCOM‘s Street Fighter game series was nominated in the “Best Action TV Spot” category for its video from last year’s Game Awards.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie — Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal Pictures‘ sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie — was nominated for “Best Animation/Family TV Spot” for its “Go” video.
The live-action series based on Eiichiro Oda‘s One Piece manga got a nomination in the “Best Animation/Family TV Spot – TV/Streaming Series” for its “Pirate” trailer and in the “Best Action TrailerByte for a TV/Streaming Series” category for “Luffylicious, Nami The Navigator, Sanji’s Cooking, Usopptastic, Zorofying.”
The awards ceremony will take place on May 28 at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills.

N LITE Partners with Kodansha for ‘Afro-Anime’ Film MFINDA’s Manga Adaptation – News
Entertainment news website Variety reported on Tuesday that multimedia company N LITE is partnering with Kodansha to co-develop the serialized manga adaptation of its MFINDA “AFRIME” or “afro-anime.” The series will debut in Kodansha‘s Biblio Sirius Magazine in 2026. The Biblio Sirius serialization is the beginning of the series’ global rollout.

The series serves as a prequel to the film following dual protagonists Nasambi and Odi through origin stories. N LITE and Kodansha will co-supervise the creative team.
N LITE previously announced that it would release the first volume of MFINDA: The Manga adaptation in 2025. The manga will have three volumes, and will be written by Christiano Terry, founder of N LITE, with art direction from MFINDA creator Patience Lekien, and illustrated by visual artist Tom Lintern. The manga will be produced in collaboration with a Japanese manga planning and inking team from D’Art Shtajio and Sakura Phoenix K.K. The manga will be available in Japan and the U.S.

N LITE describes the story of MFINDA:
MFINDA tells the story of a young girl, Odi, who is transported into the past where she joins another young girl, Nasambi. They must venture into the MFINDA and confront evil spirits to reclaim the Nkisi if she has any hope of returning home.
Viola Davis and Julius Tennon‘s JuVee Productions is partnering with N LITE for the MFINDA film. Davis, Tennon, JuVee’s head of film Melanie Clark, Genco, Inc.‘s Tarō Maki, and GKIDS‘s Eric Beckman are executive producers.
MAPPA‘s Masao Maruyama (In This Corner of the World, Tokyo Godfathers producer, Summer Wars planner) is producing MFINDA. Gisaburō Sugii (Touch, Jack to Mame no Ki, Night on the Galactic Railroad, Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie) is directing. Arthell Isom (D’Art Shtajio) is co-directing.
U.S. animation producer and distributor GKIDS is a coproduction partner.
Christiano Malik Terry, founder of N LITE, also leads N LITE Japan with Shin Koyamada (The Last Samurai, Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior) and Shigeru Igari (former CEO of Atlus). N LITE is producing MFINDA in Japan. Donald H. Hewitt (Spirited Away‘s English screenplay), Mika Abe (Forest of Piano), and MFINDA creator Patience Lekien are writing the screenplay. The production credits Lekien and Terry with the story.
N LITE aims to bring black and indigenous stories in partnership with global creators. AFRIME, or afro-anime, is its hand-drawn 2D animation. The company plans to produce AFRIME films and television series. N LITE Japan is working on upcoming projects based on anime and manga IP. The studio is also producing the Chiure: Child of the Sea film.
